    Hello people

    old poster new id.

I've had the old tivo now for going on 7 years.. thought it an idea to fork out and buy a new tv.

previous config : tv / set top box (to alleviate nicam bug).. wired to bose for better sound.
new config : sony tv digital with freeview reciever / tivo.. and of course the bose.

i couldn't get rid of the set top box from my config so went into guided setup to remove it - now - the tivo gets stuck in program scan... just either hangs or finds no channels.

I'm obviously doing something totally wrong and hopefully funny to at least one of you.

so come on .. get your fingers tapping :) what can i do ? ... and no ! throwing the tivo out is not an option. (i'm on virgin's list but.. alas no cable so .. that's a no - no on that one i fear.. sadly..).

    chers in adv.

Sorry if I have got hold of the wrong end of the stick but you mention removing the set top box. If you do this the TiVo will only be able to work with an analogue TV signal, and if your area has had digital switchover there won't be one. You need to keep the set top box to feed the TiVo.

hey there - quick update - no joy.

brough the stb back to life - plugged it in .... still having problems with guided setup.
called tivo and had a chat with a knowledgable chap - called Gerry.

    so far - still problems...

    i reckon it's my cable setup .... we'll see.

my config is... as stated earlier.
i have an aerial booster .. to help with my signal (not that far from crystal palace, honest!).

    aerial into booster input.
    booster out -> stb.
stb - aux scart -> tivo aux scart
tivo scart tv -> tv av1

not sure where my aerial cables should go - rf etc... i'm sure it was plugged info before
    the new telly arrived.

alas - my old tivo guide in nowhere to be sen (typical).

any help, folks would be much appreciated.

    excuse me - further info

when i go through (can't not go through as this is what I'm always now being presented with)
    the guided setup.
    i go past rf
type of config (select 2nd option)
    it does the dial out...
    finds no channels...

then it hangs.... i can't get out of where I then end up.

power off / then on - and back to the same twilight zone/ guided setup.

    --- hope this clarifies further.

..if you ever wander down the road above.

select a postcode close to yours if yours fails.

..yeah i thought the full correct pc was mandatory .. but no - and now i know.
