No, you're not. Seriously, doesn't it feel like BHO just got inaugurated? Yikes, last year went fast.

And there's always something on TV when a President wants to speak during primetime. But it DOES suck that it's on my second most anticipated night of TV of the year (the most anticipated would be the finale of "Lost" :)). Of course, they should just show "Lost" for us here on the west side of the country, the prez' speech is usually over by the time it's supposed to start for us. :)

Is Lost airing on Tuesdays this year?

Every other year it has aired on Wednesdays and my local ABC channel shows SEC basketball instead. So I either have to Tivo the reairing of Lost that they do in standard definition at 12:30 am on FRIDAY or I have to hit tvtorrents.

It would be nice if it is going to be on a Tuesday and funny if the first time I can actually watch it on the night it actually airs is a night that it gets preempted by the SOTU address.

Did anybody notice a bunch of posts back where the White House said they weren't going against Lost?

I'm always amused by people on a TiVo forum complaining about the scheduling of a show.

Even if Obama conflicted with Lost, it's not like ABC wouldn't air the show at a different time. Lost is one of their biggest shows. At least the show with the most rabid fan base.

Yes. We all did. Ever since then, we've been discussing whether they'd air the SOTU in January, or on a later Tuesday (which would still effect LOST).
Of course they would. But that's not the point. ABC has been promoting the premiere of the final season of LOST on Feb. 2 for quite a while. I think the producers specifically picked Groundhog Day because the theme of this season is going to be "what would have happened if the plane never crashed," making it a do-over similar to the movie Groundhog Day. If POTUS came in at the last minute and screwed that up, forcing ABC to start LOST a week later or something, that would just suck for the producers who have this all planned out to a T.

Of course, this administration has a childish pissing match with Fox, so this wouldn't surprise me.

This is a discussion about the possibility of it not airingin its originally-scheduled time/day slot....not just about time-shifting.

Frankly, you could take any episode of Lost, skip it, or show it out of sequence and I don't think it would change much. The overall would not make any more or less sense, it would just be different. A little bit.

Wow, that is just so completely and utterly wrong.

    Somebody hasn't been paying attention!

Pauline Kael used to tell the story of complaining to an Art House manager that two reels of a film had been shown out of sequence. No one else had seemed to notice. The manager responded (something like) that Kael simply didn't understand the director's deliberate distortion of traditional narrative.

If Lost screwed up badly by showing scenes or even a whole episode out of sequence, or even skipped an episode, we would simply oohh and ahhh at the wonderful new complexity. I strongly suspect the writers have good laughs about this audience.

My post that you quoted was wrong. Mea culpa.

A SOTU on the 26th would conflict with American Idol, but not the premiere. The premiere is next week.

I seriously doubt it. I think it's pretty clear they respect and even fear their audience.

Which again is a complete non-issue to DVR users, with the exception of it potentially being rescheduled to a spot that perhaps conflicts with another show. Of course, this potential exists no matter when the show is scheduled.

So DVR users won't have to wait another week to watch the beginning of one of the most anticipated events of the year? Not quite sure how that works...my DVR only shows stuff that's already been on, so if the show is delayed a week, I'll still have to wait a week.

We've been waiting this long, what is another week? This reminds me of the Netflix new release 28 day whiners.
