I've been transferring shows from my pc's to my Tivo's for many years with no problem. As of yesterday, I'm unable to do so. Usually I use bonjour because it's quicker, but the bonjour connection doesn't even show up in the Roamio so I switched to "tivo beacon" and the tv sees the pc's but says the now playing list is unavailable.

This is literally out of the blue - everything was fine until yesterday. I'm guessing there was an update installed. I'm using the "old" Tivo interface, not Hydra.

Very strange. I haven't used TiVo Desktop in months. But I just duplicated the problem. I can't see any updates since RC29. I'm using Win 8.1 Pro to a Roamio. I'll try my other computer and TiVo.

I tried two Roamios and two pc's and had exactly the same problem each time. I do know that the Roamios had a reboot prior to the issue surfacing (I keep the clock in the corner and it wasn't there when the transfer failed). BTW, I have tried rebooting both the tivo's and the pc's - no change.

I can still see the Music & Photo line on the Apps screen. Music doesn't play of course, but photos works.

There MUST have been an update. Can't imagine what else would cause the. Do you know of any other way to transfer from a pc to the tivo? I do have kmttg installed but have never been able to figure out how to transfer from pc to tivo.

    Thanks

No, sorry. I used this with Win 8.1, but couldn't make it work with Win 10 -> Easier to use pyTivo

Funny, I did the "Link to my TiVo account" and it worked.

Yeah, Tivo broke the "push" option for pyTivo when Rovi stepped in. Now that I think of it, that would have also broken the push ability for kmttg. I still have one fallback. I have a "backup" roamio that isn't plugged in (I plug it in every three months to update). I guess I can plug it in and transfer to that and leave it plugged in - just pull the Ethernet cable out every night to prevent it from updating. What a pain!!!!

Updates can be downloaded by a TiVo during any Service Connection. A Service Connection always happens with 30 minutes of a restart. You will get the latest software quickly.

hmmm. I never noticed that to be the case, but okay - I'll probably give it a shot anyway - nothing to lose.

Microsoft did something related to networking in the 2018-03 update (at least on Server 2008 R2 running on VMware). Basically they created a new network interface and hid the previous one, but the new interface got default network settings instead of the settings for the old NIC. This is a huge guess but if they did something similar on Windows, Desktop could still be broadcasting on the old interface.

Check the TiVo Server Properties in Desktop first, and make sure that it's broadcasting on the correct network interface and IP address. Also check the NIC settings in the Network and Sharing Center (Public, Private, etc) and the firewall exceptions for Desktop, Bonjour & Beacon.

I'll check. However, the PC I'm using has not had virtually any Windows updates except for Malware/Defender.

I copied a program from my TiVo to my PC with Desktop. I installed pyTiVo Desktop (link above) and was able to use my TiVo to copy it back. It seems to have lost SM.

If that were the case the tivo wouldn't see the pc, but it does. It simply can't get to the "now playing" folder on the pc.

You say "link above" but I don't see it? Also, I don't know what SM is. Thanks.

Link above -> Easier to use pyTivo

SM = SkipMode. All abbreviations I use are found by following the link in my signature.

Thanks - downloaded and installed. Not clear how to transfer from my pc to the tivo though. I've pointed it to the Tivo tranfer folder on my computer, so that's done. But how to I copy something to the tivo? Thanks for your help.

EDIT - NM, got it. It's a pull, just like desktop. Only thing that threw me is that the blue transfer light doesn't come on. THANKS VERY MUCH!!!!!!!

Well, I take it back. It LOOKS like it's recording (the show appears at the top of My Shows in the Tivo and it has a blue circle next to it, but it's not really recording. I noticed that when I look in pytivo desktop it will say pytivo isn't running (I installed it as a service - it's running), but when I click on "retry" all is good. I'm going to try on a second computer.

EDIT: Same result. Everything seems to work as it should (the folder shows up on the Tivo, I click on it and see the show(s) I want to transfer, the transfer process seems to start normally and the show appears at the top of the Now Playing list with a blue circle next to it), but the blue transfer light on the tivo does not come on and the show doesn't actually transfer.

I don't know if this is related or if this might help, but I seem to recall some people having had an issue with running pyTivo Desktop as a service. You might try uninstalling and starting anew, without that option.

Too many variables. I'm not experienced with it. I re-installed it on my Win 10 computer. I never install as a service. Then I transferred a program - ok. I transferred it back - no SM. The Network Diagnostics, File Transfer History does show the speed at 83Mbps. Not bad. I get 93 between two basic TiVo boxes.

If this was wrong, wouldn’t my auto transfers not work? I had 2 shows transfer on Friday but 5he pc doesn’t show up on the Roamio.
