I have a Tivo Premier (basic 2 signal input cable card) that is about 4 years old. The unit was making a loud noises like a fan or HD wasn't right for a few days so I unplugged the unit overnight to let things cool down then powered it back up. NOTHING on TV screen. Unit has two red lights, a blue light an amber light and a green light all on (Not blinking). Any ideas of problem and repair solutions?

Also, I just powered the unit and looked on the back of the unit at the fan and it is not spinning.

    Did you call TiVo?
Do that first. Worst they will say is the unit is dead...

If TiVo says the unit is dead:
    Pull the hard drive.
Go to the HDD manufacturers web site.
Download and run their HDD diagnostics.
That will tell you if the problem is the drive or not.

Thanks for the advice. No, I have not yet called Tivo. I'll report back after I make that call.

I got in touch with Tivo Customer Service. They had me remove cable card and reconnect to see if info to TV changed. no change. They then jumped to telling me the next best route is to buy a new unit. They offered $75 for a refurb Premiere and trade in of my unit but also $199 to shift the lifetime license. Since I don't know where to even start troubleshooting the unit I think I'm going to take their offer up. Thanks for the help.

    Sacramento...
Send it back to TiVo before they send the refurb unit, if it is like the deal I took when my Premier XL died. The refurb was an XL4, so I essentially got an upgrade.

No interest in checking the HDD before returning the unit?
