I am running Tivo Desktop 2.8.2 with a Series 2 recorder. This weekend I had to do a clean install of my OS (and now upgraded from Vista to Win7 in the re-install); this, of course, wiped out all my Tivo Desktop settings. I have reinstalled Tivo Desktop and remapped it to my video folder still containing 2 AVI files that I had already passed to my Tivo unit before my OS crash plus one new AVI file.

When I open Tivo Desktop, there are no files listed in my "Now Playing List". These files were previously listed and are in fact still in that folder.

I also downloaded the DivX codec pack and did a reboot of my system.

I also can see the current list of my recordings on my DVR so it appears that all other aspects of Tivo Desktop are running ok.

Can anyone help me solve why my "now playing list" is empty?

    Thanks in advance.

    Rick

Restart your Tivo or just wait a while. They will show up. Tivo Desktop is buggy like that.

I think the OP is running the free version. So he's getting most of the deficiencies of the paid version for free. ;)

Unless I'm misunderstanding the problem, I think he got off pretty easy for a Windows upgrade to Win7.

Were you running the Plus version of TiVo Desktop before and perhaps forgot to re-enter your upgrade key? From what I recall, AVI files are only supported by TiVo Desktop Plus.

I haven't restarted the DVR but I'm not following the logic of that since the PC is publishing the "now playing list".

I entered the access key when I reinstalled the software.

The MAK is different than the Plus upgrade key. I'm still not clear on whether you had TiVo Desktop Plus or not before your Windows upgrade.

Yes, I had the Plus version before since I was able to share AVI's to my DVR at will. (And I do have the upgrade key as well; sorry for not making that clear.)

The good new is that I uninstalled, reinstalled and re-booted and now the list is populating so I think I'm back in business (though it seems that auto-transfer still has a mind of its own on when to begin the transfer process - an old issue of its own).

Thanks for the help to all!

I did get off easy - and probably just lucky as all get out. I spent more time worrying something would go wrong but this could not have gone more smoothly from the clean re-install all the way through the upgrade. The only single hiccup was the Tivo server but everything else was flawless. Not that I'd ever want to do this a second time.
