No sound while recording from VCR

    Some people get it early without warning. I guess I was one of the lucky few. My understanding is TiVo does a slow ramp up to see if there will be a spike of calls to the support lines and I suppose to determine how many TiVos to update each day without overloading the support lines.

    To answer your other questions, it updated itself and it rebooted itself the next overnight after the update downloaded. You can tell when that is going to happen because the phone and network screen will say pending restart after the download and right up until it reboots itself at 2AM the next morning.

    Thanks for the info. Mine updated the other night at 2AM exactly. I sat and watched the whole thing. Afterwards, I tested the front panel by hooking up my X-Box 360 and recording myself playing a game for a few minutes, and it did indeed fix the sound problem.

    Looks like the audio recording problem has been fixed in 8.3 software 04/23/07. My Humax recorder got the update over the weekend but my Toshiba hasn't been updated yet.

    Software 8.3 to the rescue. He I just got software 8.3 loaded on both of my HUMAX DRT 800 units and all my VCR to TIVO audio issues are gone. They fixed it with the release of the new software.

    Can anyone tell me if this problem was ever addressed and any fix in the works.

    This was definitely fixed with 8.3 software that was released in April.

    Your unit should've already received this upgrade automatically unless it's not connecting regularly or you are having problems upgrading software.
