No signal -Tivo Bolt

    I am continually having an issue where when I turn on the TV/Tivo and it says no signal. I have an LG OLED TV with HDMI connection to my Tivo Bolt. If I unplug the Tivo power supply and let it reboot, it will then work, but if I come back a day or two later, same issue. The problem started basically when I got the Tivo nearly 2 years ago, but it didn't happen very frequently. It kept getting worse (more frequent) and after a call to Tivo support I eventually paid a fee to have a replacement box sent. I got the new/replacement box set up and am having the same issue!!!

    Additional info:
    I have a Tivo mini on another LG OLED and that one always works just fine. The issue only occurs on the TV with the main box.

    The TV with the mini used to be hooked to the main box and had the same issue. That TV now has no issues while using the mini.

    I can watch TV via the mini on the other TV even when the main box/TV says "no signal."

    The problem may be the power saving mode and the v21+ software. If you can get it to be able to see the Tivo menu, whether you restart it or not, turn off the power saving mode, and also standby should not be used. v21/Hydra is pretty buggy when you need it to work.

    I'm having a similar issue on the Bolt VOX that I got through the Summer Breeze sale. I'm running TE3 with power saving off. Sometimes the TV (Sharp LC-70LE650U) wakes normally, other times there is no signal from the Bolt. Unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in wakes up the Bolt, but that is a big PITA. I've found from trial/error that turning off the TV, waiting 10 seconds, then turning the TV back on usually gets a signal after 2 or 3 tries. Very annoying.

    X-RaySpecs - I am having the *exact* same issue. Were you able to identify the cause or find a solution?

    Unfortunately, no. I went through a total of 3 replacement boxes and all showed the same issue. The support folks tried (I spent numerous hours on the phone/online with them over the past couple of years), but ran out of "fixes" even after escalating the issue up to senior techs. They had tried changing power saving settings and several other things, but nothing ever worked and the issue always came back. The eventually offered me yet another replacement box, but I declined. Of course they wouldn't refund my purchases or lifetime service contract!

    I did find an eventual fix on my own. I swapped the Bolt DVR that was on our main LG OLED to an old Toshiba TV in the bedroom putting the mini that was on the Toshiba to the LG. This has completely fixed the issue! The main box connects EVERYTIME to the Toshiba when waking up as opposed to the LG never being able to connect on that intial wake up (requiring the reboot). The minis on my 2 LG OLEDs work everytime as well.

    Hopefully you could do something similar? It's ridiculous that Tivo's product doesn't work with such a high end TV, but the proof is in the pudding. My Bolt that wouldn't connect to the LG connects just fine to an old TV.

    Thanks for the follow-up, X-Ray. I also have a LG OLED (65EF9500). It's as if the TiVo decides the TV isn't there after a few hours and gives up attempting to send any output via HDMI (until I power cycle the unit). Given your experience, I'll probably spare myself endless hardware replacements or hours on TiVo support.

    I do have a second TV in the house. It's a newer/smaller LG OLED. Fingers crossed it will work the the Bolt and I will move my TiVo mini to the family room. If all else fails, I might just cut my loses and retire from TiVo. Thanks again for the response.

    Had similar issue (couple of times, different TV’s), each time the TV had a firmware update available which fixed it.

    I have a LG OLED(65B6P)as well. This issue is driving me crazy as it happens a few times a week. I might bring my VOX upstairs and use that instead.

    FYI: There are at least two other threads with the same issue.

    I think I have figured out a possible solution for LG TVs. I have now gone a week without it losing the signal. Try disabling Quick Start+ in the General Settings menu on the TV. I had read of a similar issue happening with XBOX's. Let me know if it works.

    Thanks for that suggestion Gardiner. I have an OLED C8. This issue has been plaguing us for a while, I just turned off quickstart, will let you know how it goes. Another thread mentioned that changing the resolution from Auto to 1080P also helps.

    I just found this thread. Recently I've been having this issue with my Bolt (OTA), and a new LG OLED E8 TV, it's a warranty replacement TV for an LG OLED B7. At first I thought it might be a heat issue, because we had been experiencing a heat wave, so I put a fan under the Bolt and kept the temp down to around 50 degrees C, that seemed to work. But then it's just did it again this week several times and the box was not hot. Each time rebooting the Tivo brought the signal back to the TV. Oh, and this never happened with the B7 TV.

    It just happened again after turning the TV on for the first time of the day. This is becoming a daily thing now! Just turned off Quickstart on the TV, hoping that fixes the problem.

    I have 3 month old replacement Bolt Vox 1tb (lifetime subscription)with LG 65" OLED B8. Keep getting "No Signal" error on LG TV screen, but all minis connected to the VOX still work.I have " quick start "shut off and problem still occurs but will try changing video setting to 1080p.Thanks! ( all power saving modes for tivo also shut off).
    ..Side note....I have been Tivo customer for over 20 years and was very disappointed with customer service. They blamed the problem on power cord and wouldn't honor warranty since I was a few days past 3 month warranty. ( I told them that I didn't call when initial problem occurred as I though it was my TV or HDMI wire since the rest of my downstream tivo minis were working). This is not the same Tivo company as before and much COLDER/zero sympathy customer service experience. It seems like they are more interested in selling new products with lifetime subscriptions than helping customers resolve their tech problems.
    Thanks for the debugging from this thread !!!! I find it hard to believe Tivo Tech isn't aware of this...

    So add me to the club where there is no signal and I have to restart. I have my Bolt Vox running thru my Yamaha Receiver and then to my C8 OLED.

    I heard that a splitter that strips out HDCP might solve this issue. Any thoughts or experiences with splitters?

    3 week Update.. I moved the Bolt Vox to a separate room and connected it to an available Coax cable but it's not connected to a TV . I have Fios , so MOCA connection already exists in the house. I also adjusted the BOLT setting to 1080P. I purchased a Mini for the LG tv and it is working fine now.

    I found a fix, for me anyway. I have an LG webOS UK6570PUB and TiVo Edge (2 months old). I also have suddenlink.
    On the TiVo, TiVo button, Menu, Settings, Audio/Video settings. Under Video resolution I had ‘Auto (recommended)’ selected and had problems, I ALWAYS had to unplug hdmi/replug to get signal. I ended up selecting ‘1080i’ (after trying others) and the problem went 99% away for me. A toggle of on/off (TV) usually fixes the once a month occurrence I have now. I think the TiVo box is looking for a signal that Suddenlink says they are delivering but are failing to do so.
    Rather wordy but hope it helps.
