just caught this on engadget- hope it's not a report-

    http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/05/tivo-premiere-update-brings-hd-guide-multi-room-streaming-more/

per the press release posted on engadget:
Multi-room streaming between two broadband-connected TiVo Premiere boxes within the home
    TiVo Guide updated in HD
"Program info" updated in HD with a few new features such as access to a "mini guide" by pressing select during a live show
    Hulu Plus search integration
Revamped discovery bar disclosing why the content is featured
Clock insertion under the Live TV window

Software will roll out to all boxes gradually so some may not immediately see these features.

I've been playing around with it for the last 40 minutes.

A good step in the right direction.

It's pretty sad that THIS is what we get after years of waiting. No updated Netflix or Amazon app which are both WAY behind the industry.

No. This is way more important. These are core dvr UI changes, And not just bonus add ons. Plus, we have already heard that Netflix changes are in the cue.

Supposedly there have been massive behind the scenes rewriting of code. Don't lose heart, I'm sure there is more coming. The engineers weren't laid off after this update, they're still writing code

plus the small infusion of cash from AT&T won't hurt either!

well i'm excited for multi-room streaming. I have 2 tivo premieres and about 3/4 of the shows I record won't transfer- so if I want to be able to watch it in both rooms reliably I have to set it to record in both rooms... I was about this close " to ditching my tivos and getting a HTPC. I am glad tivo is updating things, but I really really really wish they had done this 2 years ago when the premiere came out- I bought it somehow assuming tivo would update things quickly....

Another half-baked update. While the new Guide and Info panels are new and improved, the menus are not so. Changing the backdrop and using the same dated and cheap looking text is hardly an improvement. Moving away from TiVo Central into other menus is as clunky a move as ever. The Please Wait icon is also an ugly and dated carry over. Going into My Shows is a slower process than before the update. Hulu Plus is still a no show in searches. The Blockbuster and Amazon apps make the Netflix app look like fine art. These are the two cheapest looking apps I've seen on any device. If they had only done one thing I would have liked to see all of the menus updated to match TiVo Central. Would be nice to have a seamless transition from TiVo Central to other areas without losing the video window and being bombarded with dated looking crap. I guess the new clock evens things out.

Update: Switched to SD menus and tried to search for a title. This resulted in a lockup and had to unplug device. "Almost there... Just a few minutes more."

Locked up almost instantly upon start up. Pressed Format button on front of box and it gave it a jump start. Switched back to HD menus.

Multiple sources report that this was added. Maybe the program information for that will take some time to come down.

Anyway, it sounds like you've got other issues.
