I have an S1 DirecTivo (heavily modded with turbonet, etc) and two S2 DirecTivo units in the house now. I'm ready to pull the trigger on my first HDTV set, but I don't want to give up the Tivo interface (I'm assuming the HD DirecTV DVR sucks - I've never used it, so maybe it doesn't?)

Anyhow, is it still possible to get the HD DirecTivo unit somewhere and activate it on DirecTV? Is it still the best choice even? I haven't been on this forum in a LONG time... :)

All NEW HD content requires the HR20 DirecTv brand, since the NEW data stream is MPEG4 and the DTivo HR10-250 is MPEG2

If you are content with just a FEW channels in HD (and, from what I've read here, those will go away in the not too distant future, as all current HD content is migrated to MPEG4) then try to find an HR10-250 and add it to your account

Where to I get a DirecTv Tivo? BEFORE you buy a used DTivo,
get the ID Number from the seller and call DirecTv to ensure
there is not an outstanding balance on the seller's account,
or DirecTV will NOT activate the receiver!

If you want NEW programming content... read about the HR20
