Thanks. I corrected my reference to Roamio Pro...just too used to typing Premiere.

I finally got out of it by using my iPhone app. When I chose a live show, it went back to Amazon, but choosing to watch a recorded show I was able to actually watch it and get to the guide and watch live TV.

For the person who commented on the Roamio rebooting when you hit LIVE 3 times, it never happened before the new version. And Transfer, while badly broken, still pretended to work - like others have reported, before the update, if you went on the web and did a transfer, it actually queued it up and 'did it' - except that you could only play the first 10 minutes. Now it doesn't even que up at all, nor does the transfer show up on any todo list. I suppose that not working at all is not a lot worse then pretending to copy but not doing more - for real, than the first 10 minutes.

They always say, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it". Well, they didn't fix it, "they broke it" by giving us Hydra.

No, not that I can remember on Encore. I did have an issue on Encore where I had to manually reboot the Roamio because one of my minis would play live tv for a few seconds and then freeze. Only solution was to reboot the Roamio. I can't remember that last time that happened, probably a year ago or longer.

Well, to be fair... TiVo “offered” Hydra, and many people chose to adopt the NEW experience — though seemingly with expectations that it should function mostly like the OLD experience.

Having Hydra thrust upon you, then having to spend hours (and lose data) to revert isn't exactly voluntary. And to make matters worse, members of my family are encouraged to repeat the process every time one accidentally hits the VOX button. It's only a matter of time before someone "accepts the offer" and I'm stuck downgrading again.

Which is does. And personally I like the experience better.

At least with the new update they finally have the resolution swicthing corrected. And when outputting 1080i it's also sending it at the proper framerate now too.

    Neither of which are extant.

You could just SuperGlue the blue mic button and rest easy.

Or switch to IR or get an old Tivo remote or universal. According to your sig, you should have tons of old Tivo remotes that would easily solve your problem.

When I get chance I'll try blocking the Nuance web site. I'm not sure it will help a non-Hydra TiVo from giving the prompt. I do hate that remote, but I would just buy a regular remote. I don't have Netflix either.

    False.

I have given your suggestion all due consideration and filed it appropriately.

Sure. But the point being that TiVo shouldn't be trying to cram this upgrade down owner's throats.

To merely reboot the box I have to execute a very deliberate sequence. Home, two menus, press thumbs down three times, then enter. But to wipe out all my data and replace the entire OS with the one I just removed, just press one button then confirm with select.

The force of gravity would certainly play a part in my meatbag exploding upon meeting pavement, but it can’t be blamed for my jumping off a building, or my ignoring warnings and avoiding barriers erected across an open elevator shaft on a construction site.

If you thought my suggestion was to actually super glue the remote, then you haven’t.

@mdavej’s IR suggestion is even simpler, cheaper than what I’d had in mind.

I suspect it’s the orange color scheme.

    —————-
How does orange influence your moods?

How does the color orange make you feel? Orange can be a very strong and energetic color. Like yellow and red, it can be very attention-grabbing, which is perhaps why it is often used in advertising. People often describe orange as bright, happy, and uplifting. In some cases, however, it can seem too bright and overwhelming. Much like purple, orange tends to be a controversial color. People tend to either love it or hate it.

Orange is very blatant and vulgar. It makes you immediately start having feelings. -- Wolf Kahn

I'd make the new remote work the Premiere and use the Premiere remote on the new box. No chance that it'll ever happen then.

Based on your signature profile you probably have a few IR remotes to spare. If not I'll trade my Premiere remote for your VOX remote.
