First person to get it can start a thread.
Only Series 3 units runnng the Hydra UI (software version 21.*).
I received the update last night on a roamio ota, mini a92 and mini a93 without any issues. Took about 25 minutes per device. Looks good so far.

Thanks for the update Ted. While I have not updated to the new experience yet, this will probably get me over the hump.
- Video Window now has the option to be full screen/background.
- Home screen updated to use dual horizontal strips. Big personal preference trigger, no option given to change it back.
- Overscan correction menu.
- EPG text is larger, easier to read. 8 rows vs. 10.
- Updated Mini Guide shows up to 8 programs at once. This is better. It's not entirely a Live Guide replacement since we have to interpret the poster art, but it's better than what was there. It's kind of odd that it scrolls in the opposite direction as the full EPG.
- Thuuz excitement rankings for sports.
- SmartBar is larger, more in-your-face. Still appears to be broken and not very smart.
- The directional widgets (favorites/tuners/mini guide/smartbar) no longer come back up when you press the back button. The back button will directly exit the program.
I guess there are more than 5,000 users since I wasn't chosen.
I didn't get it either but next week isn't that far away
Of those over 5,000 users the majority must be very happy. So few complaints (percentage wise) for so many Hydra installs. It's hard to believe.
I wasn't chosen either. I wonder if this is The Bachelor or Survivor.
Same here no update love either. I guess TiVo uses the old "the demographics of your area don't support a early sneak peek".
Other side of that coin, they also didn't post how much they loved it.
Really!?!? If so I hope they go back to having the shortcut numbers listed. Since there is no way i can remember what all the shortcuts are for every TiVo I use. And I use them regularly.
I'll need to check tonight to see if I got lucky. I forgot to look yesterday.
It's just an OS, a tool and for a lot of tech savy people it just makes the box work. Not everybody who owns a Tivo even comes to this forum.
Yeah, really. I hated to see them go too. But I have a system for remembering them and macros on my remote, so it's not a huge deal to me. The shortcut list and its tiny font did seem weird to me and a waste of space. It would be nice if they could just append the shortcut number to the name in the strip.
I do like some of the other new features like the full-screen background video window like I used to have on WMC. I also like the improved Mini guide. I don't think horizontal thumbnails will ever placate hard core live guide fans, but it's a decent compromise IMO.
Not crazy about the bigger guide grid with less rows, but you can't please everyone.
No luck here either but looking forward to getting the update.
I just recently upgraded my Bolt to Hydra and it upgraded it to version RC19. Would someone be able to tell me where this is in versioning? Also, assuming I’m a few versions behind, when it updates, will it need to go trough each version or will it just update to the most current version?
RC19 is current until you get the upgrade that started this thread. It's posted that some got it and the rest get it next week. If I get it before a new thread is started I will start a new thread.
Current software thread -> 21.7.2.RC19
I managed to get it, but I've already said just about every salty thing I have to say about Hydra at this point. This update only moves the needle a small bit. It's not a big update, despite the long wait.
Oh, I also noticed that the menu widgets (the up/down/left/right things) are no longer remembered when you press the Back button. It will exit the program without bringing them back up. So that's good.
We are still on track for broad roll-out starting next Monday the 30th. Everything is looking good so far. We will have release notes posted by Monday as well.
FYI... It's possible that this Hydra update is being targeted to boxes that are NOT running Hydra. See this post.
I certainly hope not! That would be a disaster for those that don't want Hydra.
