For those of you on TiVo Experience 4, aka Hydra, we are pushing out our first feature update starting this week to a randomly selected group, and then next week to the larger group of customer running TE4.

The most significant user facing change is an update to the TiVo Central home screen which completes the move away from the TE3/Encore list view and into the TE4/Hydra style of menu. Shortcuts are still able to be customized by pressing "A".

You will also notice a few more changes, including:
    - Enhanced Mini Guide (down arrow on live TV) which works more like the TiVo Live Guide of old
    - Predictive game excitement ratings (powered by Thuuz) which show up in WTW sport thumbnails

I don't have a full set of release notes yet, but you can see what some of these enhancements look like by viewing this video -

Is there a version number we can be on the lookout for to see if any of us are the lucky winners?

No guesswork this time. The update will be obvious because of the Home screen's dual horizontal menus.

Things the new UI is (or seams to be) missing:
    - "What's on now" (on broadcast TV)
The "what to watch" doesn't separate out broadcast from streaming.

    - "What's on next/later" (on broadcast TV)
This would be helpful so I can flag what I want my Tivo to record

    - A TV Guide (vertical) listing for just a specific channel. Sometimes I just want to scroll through all programming for a specific channel, usually because I'm looking for something.

    - A way to set preferences for suggested programs (ie: I don't like sports, kids shows, reality tv, ...)

All of that being said, the new UI is not bad. In some ways it's more useful than the old UI. I like the fact that you put more rows of TV channels in the channel guide (though I wish you had added more columns for time slots as well).

I do think the UI is overly simplistic. You should have tried to make it more polished/perfessional looking

Could you keep your criticism and wish list items to another thread? This thread is about what IS in the new interface, not what isn't.

We don't need every single Hydra thread to be a complaint session. Some of us would like to just talk about the actual software being discussed in the OP.

They're still there, just not shown on screen. You have to memorize like you did in the old UI.

As for more rows in the guide. They went the other way and now have fewer. I guess there were too many complaints that the guide was too small and hard to read. I had no problem with it the way it was.

    Ok

I hope they allow for the real old ones. Like 4 for search, 2 for to do.

Looks Good and cannot wait to try out the new features, I updated my Bolt to the Hydra UI the first day it was available and after a couple of days never once considered going back to the prior UI.

The available numbers are the same as they've been since Hydra.

I got the update. The changes look good. It seems like text may be bigger in a few areas, such as the Guide. The interface seems snappier in general. I think I liked the clean look of the original Hydra guide better, but I'll adjust to the new version with the borders.

VOX still doesn't work for me, though.
