My desktop reminds me of this every time I turn it on. I clicked on "download" but there was nothing about the new version that interested me. But the desktop is still annoying me with these notifications.

There is an option for update reminders in the Misc section. If you set it to 0 it'll turn it off.

Because it isn't from a URL. I fired up pyTivo Desktop on my win box, clipped and saved the window, and attached it to my post. So Open pyTivo Desktop, click on options (the gear in the upper right corner), Settings, then the Misc tab... I thought the jpg I posted shows all that (pyTivo Desktop in title bar, Settings window, Misc tab).

On the Mac there should be a little TiVo guy icon on the bar in the upper right. Click that and select Open PyTivo Desktop. In the resulting UI click the gear in the upper right and select Settings. Click the Misc tab. Change that setting to 0 and click Save.

You set the option to 0 and it still does it?

Do you need pytivo to autostart with Windows?
If not you can remove the autostart shortcut then pytivo only runs when you click on the pytivo shortcut in the start menu.

The autostart shortcut is in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

Unfortunately the way I wrote the code the version check is always fired once when the program first starts. Setting that option to 0 will simply prevent it from checking again periodically while it's running.

It seems, then, that you answered your own issue . . . .

FYI I added a new button in the release I put out last night that will allow you to completely ignore an update. When you get the prompt for the update it will now have 3 buttons.... "Download Now", "Maybe Later", and "Ignore Update". The last option will record the version number of the update to an option in the settings file and even during startup if it detects there is a new version and it's the same as the one you told it to ignore then it will not prompt you. However it will still prompt you the next time there is an update and you'll be presented with the same options.

Right now that change only applies to Windows. I didn't think it was a big enough feature to put out a new Mac build and bug them about it. (ironically)

Actually, no, since I haven't been told how to enter the 0. I don't have a Mac.
