First of all - sorry. I searched around a bit and couldn't find answers to my question. Probably using wrong wording. I've only got a week before the Elite has to be returned if I decide not to keep it. I am coming from a DirecTV DVR (HR22 and HR24). Back in the day we had two DirecTV Tivo's.

    TIA!

    1. Can I set the default recording to First-Run Only?
    2. DirecTV has a cool feature where you hit record twice and it does a season pass. Does this exist in Tivo land?
    3. In the guide does it show if something is going to record or only if it's currently recording? DirecTV shows both - kind of handy.
    4. IF preview is never available to consumers, can I get a premiere without a subscription to stream to?

    1. Yes, season passes can be set to first run only.

    2. No.

    3. Only what is currently recording.

    4. No. An unsubscribed Tivo can only view live TV. Recording and Networking features are disabled unless subscribed.

Yes, if there is guide data, it will also record when the program data shows only general data without an original air date.

When you press record on Live TV, you have 2 options, record now, or go to program data where you can set season pass or other things including upcoming episodes.

No, Tivo needs a subscription to even operate properly, which includes guide data, transfer capability to another Tivo/PC, streaming, record programs. Without subscription, you can only watch TV with 30 min buffer to REW/FF/pause.

D'oh! Good catch. I didn't know that DTV DVRs have a default for FRO on all recordings.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but since my S1 can do this, and my S3/TivoHD can do this.. I know the DirecTivos can do this too...

Yup, being able to make keep all episodes, first run only, and heck, add 1 minute pre&post pads to all new SPs would be great, since I do all of those for virtually every new SP I set up.
