I just saw the news that the PS3 and Wii are finally getting CD-less support for Netflix and also that the PS3 will now get 1080p DD5.1 support. One article suggested that this was because Netflix is no longer tied to MS? Does anyone know if this was true, that netflix was stuck with MS/Silverlight but no longer is? if so, maybe we can look forward to a new Netflix add-on for our Tivos...

This is true. However it's not clear as to whether or not Sony has some sort of exclusive deal now for the new 1080p/5.1 format. If they do then it could be a while before we see an upgrade for TiVo.

Also the Premiere is the only TiVo which supports 1080p, so even if TiVo does put out an upgrade it's possible it will be for Premieres only.
