I am looking to upgrade the hdd on my tivo. found this on ebay from mr techshop
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=130135980792&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003
it also states "Auto intelligent padding so you never miss the end of a programme. Longer live-tv buffer - increased to 1 hour"
I have read the threads on padding, but didnt realise you could alter the live tv buffer.
looks a good price to me, but has anyone had dealings with them, or comments on item.

Personally I would prefer to deal with a supplier who specialised in TiVo upgrades.

Also, it looks like EndPad is pre-installed on these drives which is in contravention of the terms of the EndPad license.

    Just my 2p...

    My opinion -
Just last week I bought a 500gb drive on ebay (new) for 90$ US. Its extremely easy to configure a blank drive yourself. Heck there are step by step walkthroughs for it so you dont even have to think. Save the money and learn something new then feel good knowing you did it all by yourself :)

Ok, I have a new spare 160gb disk will try this weekend. have down loaded hinsdale and printed out. will try UPGRADE CONFIGURATION #3: sp as to keep my recordings. I do however use Xp with a sata raid setup, should I disconnect this or just put my tivo drive and new one on the 2 IDE ports?
also done a search on live tv, but not really found out if its possible to extend this to 1 hour as per the drive for offered for sale.

Search for buffer hack. Don't know if you'll find it here?

    If not try deal database

also will try adding bufferhack, does it goes in Partition 9 - /var ?
I assume it will it be ok to add it from the linux editor on the iso disc
    Thanks for your help

I know nothing about mfslive, but our tivos are standalone.

It's a long time since I installed buffer hack. A quick telnet tells me it's in /var/hack

Which bufferhack have you found? I recall vaguely that I had trouble with it, I think the resolution I found had something to do with hackman.

I got Dave to do it at Tivoland this time.
I got a cache card, new hard drive and a new power supply
and its cachecard driver failed to load and its stuck on setup!
Unlike me Dave knows what hes doing
So will hopefully get it up and going again very soon.

    Cheers
