I have some video files from my camera that I have converted to .mpeg so that I can view them on my TiVo. I'd like to reduce the size of these files so that I can email them. Can anyone suggest a free program to do this?
I'm nOT interested in upload services. Thank you.

Is this a one time thing? You might download the free trial version of some commercial software. Some have free 15 or 30-day trials. You should be able to find via a quick google for video resize. Sorry, I don't know of any true freeware for this.

[edit] Hmmm... do you simply wish to reduce the file size? Are you willing to reduce the video resolution and/or frame rate? What OS would you be running the software on?

    -not a one time thing

-I use many freeware apps. Just googling for a free app can result in spyware infection or worse. I do pretty well in safeguarding against this but the best safeguard is to use an app that has been recommended.

Looks promising. Have you had a virus/spyware free install?

Thanks. Looks good. Found a utube video for file size reduction...

Check out this video on YouTube:

Will try it when I get home.

Actually, I don't know. I periodically scan my computer for malware and find some but I don't know whether this is the source of any of it.

Since one of the sources is CNET, it is less likely that there is any malware associated with it.

CNET is a positive indicator for me as well.
    Thanks for the lead.

I am trying to use Handbrake.
I cannot figure out how to reduce the size of a file. The utube video said to adjust as needed but did not explain how to do this.
    Any help is appreciated

Try SuperC. I used it long ago before I got larger hard drives.

Edit: Ignore the AVS video converter ad. Find and click on SuperC download links. I think you have to go through 3 or 4 pages.

2nd page, click "download and use"...

3rd page, click "download SuperC setup file".
