I know it seriously sucks, but a Clear and Delete Everying completely fixed the problem for me.
Yeah, unfortunately for me, there is no way that I can do that anytime soon, with all the new fall programming starting up again. If this had happened up to 2 weeks ago, then I might have tried that, but I have way too much stuff on here now and all my season passes set up and in order etc. It would take me 3 hours at least to just try to get everything back the same way and I do not have the time nor energy to do that now... and I just, plain as can be, shouldn't have to... Especially if it were to NOT work and solve my problems...
Same problems here! Since the upgrades my transfers stop, my Humax out of no where drops connection with the wireless network. This doesn't happen with my regular TIVO box. I called Humax and they told me it was Tivo and Tivo told me it was humax.
My picture quality seems to have gone down hill, I have a Sony HD TV so there is no reason for it.
I did reset everything as suggested, before the season premiers started. But still the problems.
I will take any other suggestions. Does TIVO read these posts?
I know I shouldn't be saying this, or even thinking it at all... But for the past few days I have not noticed one single restart (keeping fingers crossed, knocking on wood at the same time). I hope I didn't just curse myself for just noticing and saying this...
I'd still really like to know if anyone experiencing this reboot problem that happens to have a built in DVD recorder has tried playing a dvd menu while away from the box or sleeping to see if that stops the reboots (only while playing the dvd).
It totally works for me and lets me keep my sanity knowing that my season passes will get recorded without interruption. I'd like to see if anyone else has any luck with that so we have something to send to tivo to help fix the problem.
My Humax DRT800 keeps resetting. It's about 16 months old. It has occasionally reset for no reason at all. Maybe 5 or 6 times over the last year. But in the last few weeks it has been resetting several times a day. Today, it is resetting about every 15 to 30 minutes. It's getting progressively worse.
I called Humax. Humax said it was out of warranty. $240 to repair. They said that maybe it was a heat problem.
I opened the box and blew out all the dust using canned air. Sometimes dust can cause heat build up. I then checked the System Info and it said it was running 40 degrees C (normal) and it still continued to keep resetting, so I know if it likely not a heat problem.
We have a tone of stuff recorded (we typically have the HD filled with saved programs) and we have about 40+ programs on our to-do list.
Based on reading prior postings, my next step is to do a DELETE and CLEAR EVERYTHING (as painful as that is).
I am a 48-year old electrical engineer/software developer. My best guess is that this is a memory heap bug or some type of bug related to too much crap recorded and/or too many programs configured for recording. Although I haven't tried the DELETE and CLEAR everything, I'm willing to bet that this will *probably* fix the problem.
It definitely seemed to be software related for me since the Clear and Delete Everything fixed the problem. The only other real option is to wait for TiVo to release a new software build and hope that the issue is resolved.
Well, according to TivoPony a new beta test update is in the works so hopefully if this is a software problem it will be resolved soon. I also have the DRT-800 and just started having this rebooting problem in the last few weeks. It happened twice, both at 8pm when a recording was about to begin. Luckily I was there and was able to move to a different tv to catch the beginning of the shows. I haven't noticed any other reboots but I'm hoping this isn't a progressive problem that will continue to get worse.
I've had this reboot problem with my 80 hour Humax for some time as well. Normally, it would cycle through the "Welcome. Powering Up" screen a half dozen times before finally kicking in and loading. The maximum I've seen it take (time wise) was about 30 minutes to kick back on.
This morning when I got up, I noticed it was locked up again. It hadn't rebooted, it was actually frozen on a screen shot from sometime during the overnight hours. I've done the normal stuff (unplug the power and plug back in; unplug and leave it unplugged for an hour or so; etc), but I'm still recycling.
I actually have another 40 Hour Humax at my office that is working fine.
I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I tackle this problem. In reading this thread, it sounds less like this is a hard drive problem than bad programming on Tivo's part.
Here are my questions to you experts out there:
1) Based on what I've said, does this sound like a programming problem or has the hard drive gone south on me?
2) IF the hard drive has gone out, is there any way in the world to fix THIS Tivo or are they going to force me to buy a new one? I didn't know if having the other Humax would help at all.
I think I could pull off an upgrade (from the technical side), but I'd like some direction in just where to go from here.
Same thing with me- 7.3.1 The only to get out of the loop was to unplug my wireless internet adapter and then delete unfinished transfer. Then I could plug the adapter back in. Working fine now but an unsure of any transfers.
