Oh yes, I'm fully aware of that and wasn't trying to indicate that it should handle this.

I just believe that the bulk of the problem is from the time the CC decrypts (or maybe it's the decryption itself, which TiVo may or may not be able to tweak) the signal to the time it's output on the video, somethings not right.

However, I was also seeing it in the TiVo menus, so either we're dealing with 2 different issues or they both stem from the same place - and because it's in the menus as well, which are not broadcast, it may still like in TiVo's code path. Who knows...it's all speculation on my part.

Anyway - glad this thread helped at least one install go smoothly. I had never seen the PODID mentioned here before, so I figured I'd post it up in case someone else had the same questions.

    Enjoy! I sure am. :D

One of the cards is all setup, the other has nothing correct except Connected. It's the 2nd or 3rd CC they have put in the machine. I'm pretty much positive it's something they've done on their end but I'm at wits end with the whole thing. I've had Tivo's since Series 1 and this is the first time I have had major issues getting something to work. I just want my dual tuners so I don't miss anything when TV season starts back up.

They need to put the information for the second card and the TivoHD in their system.

They can't just stick a card in and expect it to work. They've got to record and enter the CableCard ID. If they enter the ID with even a dash in the wrong place, it won't work.

The cards are entered into the system. They have entered, deleted, re-added multiple times. It's gotten to the point where I'm no longer sure exactly where the problem exists. The working CC can be moved from Slot 1 to Slot 2 (apparently VZ doesn't lock to host) and it will function perfectly fine. The new card never seems to get initialized no matter what they do. IS it possible that something could be wrong with the unit or is this 100% VZ at this point? I just want my S3 to function correctly and I've just about run out of ideas and tried most everything I've found on this forum and others.

Have you asked them to "re-hit" both cards? They have to initialize the card by sending a 'hit', which is basically a signal to activate the card.

    Yes sir sure have.

It's been frustrating because very few people on their end seem to even understand what a CC is let alone how to make it work. I've been up and down their tech support ladder over the last 30 days only to grow more and more frustrated.

If you're thinking about ordering FIOS, DON'T order through any of those mall kiosks stations. I put in my order at kiosk station in late July...three scheduling snafus later and 3 missed days of work, I finally got a truck roll visit A MONTH later!

But the wait was definitely worth it. The install itself went smoothly (once the installer spent about 2.5 hours fixing a botched setup on my neighborhood's FIOS pole connections).

I have a Series 3 and the cable card install went well, although Bill, my installer said he had never even seen a Series 3 or worked with cable cards before. He spent about 10 minutes warning me that FIOS customers have had issues with cable cards, adding, "they might not work. I just want you to be aware of that."

In the end, the cards installed correctly on the first try. "I'm glad you're so familiar with your own equipment, or I would have been in trouble," he said.

HD picture quality is excellent, noticeably better than Cox HD (Fairfax Co.). Never watched the FOOD channel before, but started watching in HD and now I'm hooked!

No pixelation issues (using Motorola cards). Internet speed delivers what's promised and phone service works fine.

If you're thinking about making the switch, do it, but back AWAY from the kiosk :D

Had my TivoHD's cablecards installed today outside of Philadelphia, went without a hitch.

Two guys rolled out, one had done a cablecard install in a TV about a year ago, other guy this was his first install.

I did all of the work and he had no trouble activating them on his laptop. So far, so good! Guide data is slow in loading but the feed looks great!

Have you gotten the updates to the TivoHD, yet? Your guide will work much faster after you do.

I'm running 8.1.7c2. It seems to have sped up since it has finished loading all of the guide data after I re-ran guided setup.

I am going through a cable card nightmare of my own with a TIVoHD. At this point with FIOS the PODID is "CableCard(tm)" number on the CC Pairing menu.

When we paired with the host id as podid we had no channel access
When we paired CableCard as podid we got analog channel access (up to 49)

You still need an update, then. The current version of the software is 9.2. That update fixes a lot of problems with the TiVo HD, include visual problems and the speed of the menus. You may want to force it to connect to the Tivo service a couple of times, to see if you can force it to get the upgrade. I don't think you need to go to TiVo's website to request it, at this point.
