Great deal, I was just about to post this from Fatwallet.
I paid 170 for mine 2 weeks ago.

So if I plug this into a stock Tivo HD, how many TOTAL hours fo HD and SD do I get? Is it 60 + 20 = 80 HD? Or is 60 hours the new HD total?

    Tempting.

The only thing I see wrong with getting a DVR expander is that you can't transfer the shows to a new DVR later.

For example, I have an S3 now and pack it full of shows.

If I want to get the next release of Tivo hardware (whenever it comes along in the distant future), I can't just use the expander again.

This may be a lame argument, but it is one of a few that I'm trying to work out before getting one.

This wouldn't help those of us with the freeze/reboot problem, right, since it's "additional" storage, not necessarily a replacement drive? I've read that some people w/ the problem have fixed it by replacing the drive, and some people still had problems. Just weighing my options

Sure you can. When the hardware is released, you just transfer the programs to your PC. Then, when you get your new box and network it, you just transfer the shows back to the new box (with the DVR attached to it).
