Moving overseas -- transfer ownership?

    I have two TiVos --
    1. A Series 1 which has a Lifetime Contract.

    2. A Series 2 with a three-year deal that I paid in full.

    I am moving to the UK and wondering if I give/sell my TiVos can the new owner just plug it in and use it (for the remainder of the three-year period on the Series 2)?

    How would TiVo know WHO is watching as long as everything is paid up.

    The lifetime box can be transfered without any subterfuge. Not sure but I think the new owner has more complete use of the box (online scheduling, etc) if the ownership is transferred.

    I have no idea about the preaid 3-year box.

    The only reason to transfer a lifetimes S1 to a the new owner is simply to show ownership. The online features are for S2 and S3 Tivos only.

    The prepaid subscription can not be transfered. However, a new owner can use the box as is until the sub runs out. At that time you have to remember to cancel your subscription or Tivo will start charging your credit card for a monthly subscription.

    If the new owner has only this tivo, it's not a problem. If the new owner already has 1 or more S2 tivos, they will not be able to use MRV with this prepaid unit because the media access keys won't match.
