    Hello!

We recently moved from the US back to the UK. We have a working Tive Series 2 with a "life time subscription". I also have an NTSC to PAL convertor so that the video will work.

However, I've no idea how I get access to the UK's Tivo TV guide/service. I hope I can!?!

If I can, then I'm guessing that I'll lose all Season Passes as they are related to the US channels, but that's no biggie - I'll happily re-enter them.

    Please would someone help me!

    Thanks in advance!
    Sam.

Easy and short answer - you can't use it here :(

You'll be able to view your existing recordings (through your ntsc->pal convertor),
and make manual recordings, if you get the right lead

-but no guide data as tivo UK won't allow US serial numbers.

Argggh, what a pain! Thanks for your help though.

Is it still possible to buy Tivo units in the UK?

To get something close to a US Tivo S2 here you are after a Thomson Tivo S1 with a Cachecard and 512MB of RAM and a Lifetime Subscription. They have been selling lately for around £220 on Ebay although prices have now started to rise again in the last week or so. You don't want just a basic Tivo with 40Gb hard drive and no Lifetime Sub. That would mean having to pay £10 per month on top.

Main snag of the UK Tivo is it only has one tuner where you have a recording clash but none of the alternatives like Sky+ or Freeview Playback yet seem to be anywhere near as reliable or fully featured as a Tivo.

You might also want to check out a place called www.tivoheaven.co.uk and www.steveconrad.co.uk/tivo

My perspective would be why would anyone stay in the USA forever.

And there are so many reasons to come back like friends, family, end of overseas posting by UK employer etc, etc.
