Seems more like Angle with a love twist of Buffy thrown in. I'm 50/50 on if I'll keep this show right now. It's really going to depend upon how the develop the relationship and if this becomes the 'solve the murder of the week' show.

To paraphrase a book by Roger Ebert, I Hated, Hated, HATED this show. There was absolutely nothing redeemable about it.

The writing was horrific, completely unnatural. Sophia Myles was seemingly more worried about her accent than her acting. Jason Dohring walked around this episode like he had a pole jammed up... ahem. Alex O'Loughlin has no demonstrable acting ability whatsoever. They destroyed just about everything in vampire mythology that was particularly interesting.

I laughed my butt off during the "driving" scenes... I've seen more realistic "driving" on the crappy movies they have on MST3K.... and of course, this was hilarious since the "suspenseful" ending involved a driving scene.

In case it's a surprise, I will not be watching again. :D

It reminded me of a big-network attempt to duplicate the success of Blood Ties.

I found it generally entertaining; certainly not anything to wait around for or get all upset if you miss one week.

Well, no, it's a premiere, not a pilot.

This show didn't have a pilot, it only had a presentation package. If this WERE just the pilot, I might give it ever so slightly more of a chance, because things often change between pilot and the first regular episode. Here, there was no pilot, they just started filming the show outright. There won't be any changes.

What a Forever Knight rip-off!! You got a vampire named Mick/Nick, who drives a corvette and solves crime with the help of a morgue worker, and has flashbacks of his life.

And what's with all the hot British actresses (Sophia Myles, Michelle Ryan) doing American accents? Keep those sexy British accents!! Doesn't it seem kinda creepy the writers are setting up a romance between him and someone he watched grew up from a little girl?

I can't seem to grasp that Jason Dohring is going on 30! (Anyone got the Hearst College reference?)

Lastly, the vampire ex-wife is in the cast. She either not dead, or there's going to be alot of flashbacks.

Which is especially ironic since it's Sophia Myles, who did the exact same thing so much better in Doctor Who (The Girl in the Fireplace)...

It was an ok filler until Stargate Atlantis comes on. The cute dimple chin helped. ;)

I think I must be the only one who didn't hate this show. I think it has potential, so I'll give it a few more episodes.

I thought it was OK, except for the horrible acting. Really, really bad. Even Jason Dohring was not that great (although I confess I was never much of a Logan fan either).

However, I find that the acting in a lot of first episodes is pretty stiff an lame. I'll give it another week or two and see how it goes. I'm not going to be cutting my evenings short to get back and watch it though, that's for sure.

+1 on the driving thing. I had to pause to chuckle and then I realized this wasn't meant to be campy, it was just bad. Worst driving scence since Dan Tanna tooled around Vegas!

I saw a great commercial/music video for it and it looked like my kind of show. I've watched some pretty terrible shows over the years but this one might top the list.

I'm tempted to give it one more week just because I know it can only get better plus the train wreck factor.

Have to give the show more than 3 episodes before we decide.

No pilot produced, just a general idea pitched by someone.
1st episode was written and produced by team 1, then they quit.
2nd episode was written and produced by team 2, then they quit.
3rd episode was written and produced by team 3, and I think they are still with it.

I really didn't want to research the names of the teams, thus the generic team 1, team 2, etc.
I also could be exagerating the number of teams for effect, I don't pay that much attention to "show runners" and all that, just heard this show had some problems out of the gate.

Yeah, it wasn't nearly like this. Just about everything about the show was ditched before the show started; the entire cast originally assigned to the production package were let go, except for the lead actor. A new showrunner was brought in for the show, David Greenwalt (of "Angel" fame).

After about 5 episodes, David bowed out, citing fatigue (though it's believed that it was more likely that he was pushed out instead). A new showrunner, Chip Johannessen (of "Dark Angel" fame) was brought in to replace him. Everyone else remained with the show.

More importantly, the writers of this piece of crap, Ron Koslow and Trevor Munson, remain with the show, which does not bode well, since the problem with this episode was mostly the hammy writing.

Yes! Blood Ties! This show is as close to a complete rip-off of a syndicated series as I've ever seen.

Is Blood Ties really a success? I thought I was the only person in the U.S. to watch more than one episode. :D

This show is pretty bad, but right now I'll watch everything I can get in HD.

I thought it was ok. But what I didn't like was how they took away almost all the vampire's weakness and gave them even more powers. Daylight basically has no effect. Stakes, garlic, no effect. They basically made the only weakness fire or beheading, and really how many villains is he going to run into that carry around a flame thrower. And what's with being able to see the past by sniffing things, Kinda makes solving cases pretty easy. Look how easy he found the reporter girl at the end.

I really want to like this show so i'll give it a few more episodes to see if they can fix it.
