I thought that the look on Cam's face when Phil spazzed on him was priceless.

    45 seconds? 4 to 5 seconds.

    I love this show.

Echoing other thoughts: this show needs to stop putting Julie Bowen in swimsuits. This show needs to continue putting Sofia Vergara and Sarah Hyland in swimsuits.

Speaking of swimming, I'll go against the tide here and say I thought this was MF indulging many of its worst instincts, resulting in a fairly poor episode. Too much Cam being Cam, Claire continues to be a horrible person, have some lazy fun with Gloria's accent, lots of random slapstick, wrap it all up with an obvious, needless, and treacly voiceover. Plus the premise didn't even make much sense.

Funny work by Sarah Hyland in the episode, though. And the other kids were solid too, as usual. I did enjoy Luke needling Manny about being kidnapped.

I liked the episode. The Target brand placement didn't bother me at all. It's not like it was as bad as the Ford Focus placement in Alias several years ago. I wasn't a fan of the Phil taser incident - seemed overacted to me.

Overacting on a broad comedy ... go figure.

I was telling my wife as that happened, it's neat they're giving Lily more to do. They've been doing that all this season, and I think it's great, she's part of the family.

I noticed that too, I watched it a couple times because of it.

As far as Target is concerned, it bugged me at first, but it wasn't so much the product placement as it was really Target's fault. They're red, red, red, which you don't notice too much when shopping there, but when on TV? The commercials are bad enough, but the shot where they were pointing the camera straight down the first aisle, with the registers, it was NOTHING BUT RED. Barf.

It worked within the context of the show.

There's overacting, and then there's overacting. This instance, I felt, was too over the top.

Yes, but that is Phil, he has been that way from the beginning, at first he was my least favorite character, now he is my favorite.

    Go Phil!

I thought this was the worst episode since the series began. Phil has really grown on me since early first season but it was beyond ridiculously stupid with the whole tazer thing.

Sofia Vergara wasn't even in a swimsuit since she was covered up.

And Gloria's accent is great when they make a simple quick joke with it but a whole "who's on first" 10 minute skit?

They can just get rid of Cam now unless he's in clown makeup.

Hayley's Target sequence with the gay guy was funny but the rest of it ran on too long again.

See, I don't see that as "product placement" the iPad was a current subject that everyone was talking about. I actually enjoyed that they do this - talk about stuff that is up to date with what is around me. "Luke I am your Father" in the Darth Vader voice was great. There is others but I can't remember it. To me it's not product placement it's just a normal family. The things I find annoying is stuff like the Phil/tazer thing. After one jolt it would have been enough. Or running the tree over and then the angel. But there is so much other fun stuff - the whole Target shopping spree was great - that I can look past the other.

I have a strong suspicion Gloria being in a cover was not just a coincidence.

the onlyn thing I noticed about the Target was that the west coast apparently has spiffy futuristic shopping carts.
