Missing Menu or Blind/Stupid Newbie...

    Tivo Series2 DT has been connected and running for 18 hours.... All works well.... Tivo is connected w/wireless adapter to home network fine...

    Would like to download video from Amazon. Have linked my Tivo and Amazon accounts.

    Instructions state: Select "Download TV and Movies" from the Find Programs menu....

    Problem: Don't see no 'Find Programs' menu nowhere in Tivo Central nor elsewhere?

    <insert sound of Curly slapping his face, growling and barking at Tivo...>

    Sounds like you have a new Tivo out of the box. If so, you probably do not have the latest software (Ver 8.3). Tivo will have to connect and download this version, usually within 1-2 days. You can force a connection to see if you can speed this up.

    When you get this software the menus change slightly to provide the Amazon capability. Your version had a different name for Find Programs (I forget exactly, but something like Record Programs). Also a new submenu item will be added to get the Unbox movies.

    many thanks for the quick reply.

    makes sense as it is new, and software version is 7.x... and when i tried to force the connection to update tivo said i could not do so until a scheduled software update at 2:00 am...

    that was quick: just restarted the unit and got the software update and lo and behold, there is the 'find programs' menu item..
