I created this thread as a season/series thread but we can switch to individual episode threads if there's enough interest in doing so.

The first thing that I noticed is that FX has fully embraced the f-bomb. No bleeps. No even in the closed captions.

Kinda strange seeing Katie Sagal's cameo. I wonder if she'll continue to pop up here and there or if that was just a one time thing. I can't remember Sons Of Anarchy well enough to remember if Edward James Olmos had a recurring role.

The Samoans could have used a few more acting lessons.

I'm relatively unfamiliar with California. The Mayans have chapters near Oakland and the Mexican border? It kind of seemed like the Mayans' motorcycles must be equipped with warp drives to travel that distance that quickly.

Overall, I'm pretty sure I'm hooked for at least this first season unless it seriously goes off the rails.

    I liked it.
    E.J.O wasn't on SOA.
Nice seeing Katy. Of all the SOA characters I guess she was the easiest one to reach out to. I wonder if that scraggly dog is going to keep popping up.

I remember the same complaint being made in Sons of Anarchy, riding from Northern California to Vegas in what seemed like a couple hours.

The Mayans in the Sons of Anarchy world were the Oakland chapter.
Mayans in the Mayans world will most likely be focused on the SoCal chapter, on the Mexico border.
I guess Alvarez is one of the founding members, so he got called down to SoCal to make the final decision on how to deal with the Samoans and Cartel.
He and his entourage could have made the ride in a day, if they didn't hit traffic.

I thought it was pretty good. Never watched SOA, so have nothing to compare it to. Moved fast, grabs you quickly. Interesting twist that EZ is el rato.

Confused on one thing--the wife of the cartel dickswab, was that EZ's old girlfriend?

So does Nero and Jax Jr exist in this world? I thought the show was supposed to originally have them!

I bailed on SOA back when they went to Ireland to get a stolen baby, or some other nonsense related to that. I did think, way back then, that the Mayans should get their own series.

I'm going "chunk up" on few of these episodes before I watch them but will be following this thread to see if I'll delete them en masse. Too much on TiVo to get bogged down on lunacy.

Should be good for a season or 2 before they jump the shark.

ep1 was better than I expected.
Minor nits: Would a criminal MC take in a Prospect who got out of jail early? (Red flag). Could a few members really keep working with the rebels a secret for long?

That was a plot for a different spin off.

I liked it. I was surprised to see Robert Patrick's name in the opening credits. Mrs. Sutter was an easy cameo to land.

I'm wondering if the kid is out there somewhere.

There's a ton of SOA plot lines & characters that can supplement this for years.

Maybe they can spin off a series starring Katie Sagal as the leader of an all female motorcycle gang known as the Daughters Of Anarchy. No? :p
