I have a Hughes DirecTV/Tivo HDVR2 and I want to add a second hard drive. What is the maximum size hard drive I can put in it? I currently have 6.2a software in it.

Your TiVo will handle any size drive that you can buy today.

To give you an idea of how many recording hours you'll get from any hard drive:

Hard Drive size in GB * .88

My 300gb drive reports 265 hours of recording time.

I strongly recommend you don't add a second hard drive, but go with a single large hard drive for several reasons. 1) single drive unit runs cooler 2) Less power draw on power supply only designed for one 3) lower failure rate 4) No trying to figure out which drive is bad when one fails 5) Less noise.

I was trying to upgrade my 400 gig to a 750 gig (full copy) but it hung at 33%. Also MFStools only showed the new drive would be 463 hours. I was using the LBA48 version of MFS tools. I assume I'm doing something wrong.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

MFStools has problems with very large disks. Try MFSlive instead.

Thanks, it does look a bit more mature. I will try it. Thanks.
