Wasn't it a chain through the torso? The chain he was using earlier in the episode to catch those 5 dudes they turned into Hivelings?

How did he suddenly get that power anyway? In the last episode everything he touched blew up, ala Gambit in Xmen. Now all the sudden he can turn a chain into so sort of flaming whip?

Also all those guys had assault weapons and he attacks them with a chain? And not one of them actually shoots him? Had none of them seen Raiders of the Lost Ark? :)

I think that is pretty much how things have gone. When someone first turns inhuman, they can't control their powers. Then over time, they figure things out. Like Daisy was causing quakes left and fight until she got that things on her arms.

My wife and I said the same thing to each other. "Good grief...give Tony a call STAT!" to take out Hive. Especially since this is basically "end of the world" level threat now. I've let it go, but it really doesn't make sense.

Having said that, Hive has been shown more then once to kill humans pretty easily so it's not like any of the Avengers are immune or something.

Also, since the Avengers are under the Accords now, Coulson couldn't just call them up anyway, it would have to go thru committee, get approved, etc. at which time the world is over. Which was Cap's whole point. :D

I can almost see the TV people ending the world just to show the movie people what idiots they are... :D

And the movie people who go on just like it didn't happen, same as anything else that happens on the TV show. :)

Has there been any movie/tv crossover characters at all this season? The first two season had a few characters cross back and forth, but I can't recall any at all this season.

There has not, I read a while back that there was sort of a falling out between the TV group and the movie folks.

I think it was a Joss Whedon interview.

I'm not sure it was a falling out so much as the movie people forgetting there even was a TV show, upper management continuing to give the TV people movie edicts, and the TV people resenting it. Deeply.

I've never seen any of the movies, or read any of the comics for that matter. The show works fine for me as a standalone. I do catch the references to Avengers and such, but I don't dwell on them too much. Maybe I'll look on the movie channels and try out some of them. Where should I start?

I haven't seen many of the movies either. Seems though the ones you'd mostly want to watch are the Avengers and Captain America movies.

Thor too, since Siff has actually been on the TV show.

Yep, the Captain America movies cross over into AOS the most, and Agent Carter show obviously. The first Avengers movie is of course a big event in the world and often referenced, as is Ultron. Minor crossover with Thor the Dark World as they clean up the mess left behind by the Dark Elves and Lady Sif has show up on the show more then once.

Basically many of the movies do massive "world building" while the shows live in that world. You can certainly skip the movies but why would you, most of them are some of the best movies around.

I was just recommending what movies to watch to a guy at work who has just seen the first Avengers movie. Basically I told him to watch all of them except Iron Man 2 and the Hulk movie as they both stink. The rest are pretty good to excellent. I also explained how many of these movies aren't really "super hero" movies but other types.

Captain America First Avenger is a WW2 period piece.
Cap Winter Soldier is a political/spy thriller
Cap Civil War kinda keeps that theme but obviously goes over the top with super hero fights.
Ant-Man is an Oceans Eleven type heist
Guardians of the Galaxy is a space romp ala Firefly
Thor, especially the 2nd one, are more like fantasy/space epics
Dr Strange will be mystic and magic and looks like a little Inception tossed in (which is how the comics are anyway)

So what I really like about what Marvel has done with most of their movies is they are different genre movies that just happen to star superheros.

Apparently my wife and I the only people on the planet who feel this way, but we thought the Hulk movie was pretty good. It certainly isn't very relevant to the AoS tv show, but we enjoyed it.

    Which Hulk movie?

    :)

I was kinda partial to the one with Jennifer Connelly.

    so i ask again:

how did shield know lash was the hive killer?

i don't recall that build up. i know they foreshadowed... he has a purpose, we don't know what it is, blah blah.... what propelled them to get lash on the jet to face hive?

Did someone say that they knew that for a fact? I just figured they didn't have too much to lose by trying.

Well Lash's M.O. was killing other inhumans, so I guess they figured it didn't hurt to try. Though if Hive managed to gain control of Lash, I would think that would have been bad.
