So apparently Luther S4 aired on the 15th (first part) and concludes tonight. I haven't seen any recent Luther threads. Has it aired only in the UK?

I think Luther season 4 all aired (possibly with a few minutes cut) as a special on BBCA last Thursday. I did not catch it, so I cannot verify.

Wasn't all. I believe S4 is two episodes and the first one aired Dec. 15. The finale is tonight. I was just surprised there wasn't a thread so I thought maybe it only aired in the UK.

Edit: I stand corrected. Apparently it aired as a 3-hour one night "movie" whereas in the UK it was split over two weeks. Which means it's "magic means" time :)

Is the US remake still in the works? Any chance Idris Elba would reprise his role like Tennant did for Gracepoint?

Last I heard, it was delayed because Fox couldn't find their Idris Elba.

according to futon, it's premiere date is Jan 25th

(from FOX's press release, November 2015) LUCIFER, the new drama starring Tom Ellis ("Merlin"), premieres Monday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), after the time period premiere of THE X-FILES (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Based upon the characters from DC Entertainment's Vertigo imprint, the series tells the story of LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR (Ellis), the Lord of Hell, who has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A. When he is introduced to LAPD homicide detective CHLOE DECKER (Lauren German, "Chicago Fire"), LUCIFER becomes intrigued by her compassion for humanity, which causes a struggle between his temptation toward the side of Good and his original calling toward Evil.

To do it right they also need a Ruth Wilson.

    Da boogie...
Elba is pretty good at American accents, why not just cast him?

Well, he did say too big NOW...

But I suppose if a show like Homicide or Luther came along, he'd probably be on board. I suspect his attitude towards an American Luther would be "Why?"

Was that a series commitment or a guest shot?

A series commitment for a regular-network show will generally take you out of the game for about 2/3-3/4 of the year...I suspect there's a reason this "season" of Luther was only one 2-episode story.

    You are, of course, correct.

After a while, those long-ago great shows tend to blur together... :D

But he *was* on The Office as "Charles Miner". Not a regular, true, but it was more than just a guest role.
