The little "bloop bloop" and other sounds have disappeared from my TiVo Bolt as of Sunday 1-28. I've checked the setting it is unchanged at medium on. Was there a recent update that broke it?
No. When live video is displayed there are no sound effects. With Hydra, there are bugs also. To get sound effects back I need to play some PCM music (with Hydra).
This happens to me sometimes. I get a burst of static, then I lose all Tivo sounds. I've found that putting the Tivo into standby, and then waking it up, will restore the sounds.
That bug has been around forever. It always makes my girlfriend jump when it happens. (That static is loud!) I only seem to get it once every 8 or 9 months, luckily.
Bumping the thread because I seem to have lost the sounds too. I have a 4-tuner Roamio. I got a new TV yesterday. It's a Sceptre U55 if that matters. The sound on the TV is awful and I do need to get a soundbar, I think, but that's separate research for now.
How do I get my sounds back? I tried changing the sounds on the TiVo to high from medium but that hasn't helped.

My TE3 Roamio Pro has lost the Tivo sounds twice in the last three days. It only happened once in the previous two years. I "fixed" it in both cases by changing the sound setting (from PCM to Dolby a few days ago and from Dolby to PCM today).
I have no idea whats triggering it. I hope it's not Tivo hardware.
Amen brother. I've given out and received a lot of help from this forum. More recently I've gotten rusty since hard drives are now much more reliable and when you do have to change the procedure is vastly easier. I remember the early days of the series 1 when we had to "hot swap" a drive to get it to boot up and add a new or larger drive. Everything in black and white Linux and those long string of commands.
I tried reporting the static burst and loss of Tivo sounds to Tivo, but only got useless non answers. Their only answer was to tell me to try another HDMI cable. So, once or twice a month I toggle the sound prefs to get my Tivo sounds back. Clearly they need to do a software fix, but they do not understand the problem.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
