Maybe the real Dr. Smith's privileges would be terminated if he was dead.
Hmmm...maybe. But "Dr. Smith" seemed to know her way around computers pretty well. If she could convince the computers that she was female instead of male, it doesn't seem that alive vs. dead would be a big problem...
It sets up future conflict?
I thought it was hilarious that every time they do some maneuver in the Jupiter, they tell everyone to "strap in". Yet the ship is filled with things just sitting on tables and shelves. I guess flying debris isn't an issue?
How do they work?
Seriously, you don't know how a magnet works?
He's referring to this guy:
The "Magnets. How do they work?" meme started to make fun of Insane Clown Posse, not the alien guy. ICP released a song attacking science and included the line "$#@ing magnets, how do they work?"
I finally finished this. Made about 5 attempts at the first episode (always when I was tired to begin with) and fell asleep every time. Finally I got through the first 2 eps by starting first thing in the morning.
I did think the story clipped along pretty good with most eps having a proper life/death peril to unrealistically survive. One can take that observation as a very good or very bad thing, or both at the same time I suppose.
But this bit reminded me of one thing:
So when you are trying to hoist two very large masts (apparently on hinges?) and you have a chariot pulling (in sand admittedly) on a cable attached at the top with what, 50:1 leverage advantage implying that the mast is extremely heavy, how much help are 3 or 4 humans really going to be pushing at a ~4' position?? If that cable snaps doesn't that leave those humans in a rather precarious position?
And then again-- when does season 3 come out?
Also, I can't help but notice that unlike the original series, while they apparently were lost on a planet for about 1 year that they wrapped up for us in one tidy episode, they have plenty of human company most of the episodes.
I love this show and hope it gets picked up for season 3. They certainly left us with a nice cliffhanger.
But they're all lost, right? They aren't sure how to get to their destination.
Yes, in space I believe.
While preposterous in terms of reality, science, etc, I just find it entertaining and that's all I really care about with TV.
