Directors are never known to let facts get in the way of a good story, no matter how implausible it may be.

But a good director (or rather, a good writer) is able to work more facts into their good story, instead of just taking the lazy way out and making $^#% up at random in order to move the plot forward (which is especially a problem in science fiction, where audiences for whatever reason are generally more accepting of really bad writing in service of plot...probably because the idiocy they see there doesn't reflect their own personal experience and thus is easier to ignore or not even notice).

Do you realize that at one point Dad was stuck in a well; one daughter had to jog 20 miles to save him and ends up getting attacked by space dinosaurs; I'm sure at least one other family member was near death at this time. Dr Smith constantly picks locks and overrides space computers. Don is saving the day with a Cadillac door stuck to his leg. This was horrible. I watched cuz eventually Will and the Robot were gonna connect.

Not to mention having to drag Scarecrow instead of landing closer.

It's a remake. The original was just like this.

In my favorite episode Will transported back to earth by having the robot send crazy far out random signals into an alien machine.

It was enjoyable, you just have to have the mindset that EVERYTHING they do, plan or try will put their family in peril and that will go bad until Maureen saves the day :)
    But ya I enjoyed it.

It must be hard for the Robinson's to be traveling with all those idiots incapable of doing anything unless a Robinson directs them!

Other than the villains, of course.

As bad as the science and logic in this series was, the cliffhanger may suck me back in for season 3. Especially if...
Smith is truly dead and not coming back. I hated that character.

She’s alive. Her stuff was in the box, implying she hid there to save herself from the vacuum.

Dr. Smith is the only character I feel invested in. She's kind of all over the map. Just when she seems to get herself together, she falls off the wagon. The Robinsons are all one dimensional. I'm rooting for Smith to re-take the robot and take out the Robinsons, sparing Penny though.

To me, Dr. Smith was the typical run of the mill type bad guy that hack writers create. She was omniscient and omnipresent when it suited the writers' nonsensical whims. She was just a plot device thrown in to make the Robinsons' lives miserable and stretch episodes out. While the Robinsons may have been less than three dimensional, Smith's only character trait was that she was an a-hole. While the original Dr. Smith was lazy, selfish, cowardly and dishonest, at least he was funny in his laziness, selfishness, cowardliness and dishonesty. This Smith had no redeeming qualities. She should have been spaced in season 1. Just my humble thoughts.

Much as I have always liked Parker Posey, I find it very, very difficult to disagree with a word you just said...

My last thought on this season. I think it was unfortunate that the robot still has minimal to no personality. The original series robot was often humorous in his dealings with Dr. Smith. I'm guessing the current robot will become more "human" as this series progresses but they've got a long way to go.

I've watched seasons 1 and 2 over the last few weeks. Very enjoyable, sure it has flaws but it's entertaining and fun to watch.

My only issue is their tendency to try to create tension by putting the family into perilous situations when we all know they will get out of it ok.

It should be a drinking game. Every time a Robinson is near death and is saved by some ridiculous heroics - DRINK!

The show overall is just bad, but I have to watch because in a sea of detective, medical drama, reality and sitcoms, there's not a whole lot of sci-fi to watch.

Honestly, I don't think Smith is written any worse than the rest of the cast. Mom, Dad, what's his name, and Judy saving everyone, and each other, every 10 minutes, Penny the sassy misfit, trying to figure out her role (easily the most likable Robinson for me), and poor Wil infatuated with the most boring robot to ever hit the screen. The show did a good job of giving me an early night. It was kind of annoying to have to keep finding the spots where I fell asleep though.

The original series wasn't exactly must see sci-fi, I had no desire to revisit it, the reboot movie flopped, which makes me wonder why they even tried to reboot it again. I feel like the show could have been a lot better if they weren't being restrained by the whole Lost in Space shtick.

Cant wait for The Orville though.
