I bought my s3 when they first came out. When they came out with the lifetime for $399.00 I paid for that plan. I wanting to know should I have only paid $299 since I was a subscriber all ready or was just for new subscribers.

    Neither...
When new (not transfer) Lifetime subscriptions were re-introduced, the price was $399 and was only available to current subscribers.

Since then, the price has dropped to $299 for current subscribers, and Lifetime was again made available to first-time TiVo owners at the $399 price.

I suppose you could call to ask for a credit, but I doubt it will be successful.

Yes, tivo changes their prices in a way that really annoys current customers. It's unfortunate.

I bought my S3 the end of January this year, and activated it it Feb. I already had/still have an S2 w/lifetime since 2004. Adding the 2nd unit, I paid $399 as well.
