Not sure how I feel about it. To me, Mel Gibson will always be Riggs, and Danny Glover will always be Murtaugh. Saw they were making a series and thought "well that is going to be crap"....but the trailer actually looks pretty good. Just wish they didn't do the whole Riggs/Murtaugh and instead, made it a "Lethal Weapon inspired show" with new characters rather than a remake with the original characters from when they first get paired up as if the movies never happened.

Wow...at first I thought this was a TERRIBLE idea... I was prepared for a train wreck...

But you are right...the trailer looks pretty good...and compelling...

    I can't wait!

I cannot believe Damon Wayans is 55. That's crazy.

And it's one and done for me. Crawford was OK as Riggs, but Wayans was horribly misscast. To me, it felt like a poorly done parody of the awful sequels and nothing like the original in any way. As with McGyver, I struggled to make it past the first 15min and canceled the 1p right after viewing. I'm pretty sure now that this will be the worst broadcast TV season yet with maybe 3 shows making it past the pilot on my Tivo.

Sometimes shows start off bad but get better. Extant season 2 was good while I didn't like season 1 and I liked the last episodes of Rush Hour but really disliked the first one. I have to be in the right mood for a show and it depends on what else is on and my tastes change over time, so often I just let them pile up (I have 3TB).

Yeah, as a matter of principle I almost never give up on a show after one episode. For one thing, they rarely do true pilots any more...they just run the "pilot" as the first episode, and then any changes the network wants get made later. So often, the first episode to varying degrees does not reflect the series as a whole to varying degrees.

The only time I'll give up after one is if the one is irredeemably bad. Which wasn't the case here, although my interest is quite low.

Problem is here's only so many shows I can watch in a season. I just cancelled Elementary after having all of last season, 24 episodes unseen, deleted along with the One Pass. I'm retired but I'm a volunteer photographer for quite a few charities in the greater Philadelphia area, and I'll be lucky to keep up with my favorites like Survivor, especially for the next six weeks (25 events). I don't have the luxury or inclination to give more than two episodes on a new show that's not interesting to me.

I liked it. Don't know if it was a nostalgia factor or not. We will see.

This might be hard to believe, but I know nothing about the Lethal Weapon movies. I've never seen any of them. As such, I was able to approach this entirely fresh.

I didn't think it was bad. I thought the two leads had pretty good chemistry against each other.

I realized that the show is based on an action film, but I still found many things about it ridiculously implausible, such as the fact that they were able to accidentally drive onto a Grand Prix course that easily. Also, that they were able to kill off that many bad guys without any issue for me bordered on comical. (I get that the one cop is being protected somehow, but there are limits.)

Again, knowing nothing about the original, I was somehow expecting something a little lighter, quippier, faster paced... this seemed to take itself a little too seriously, especially given how ridiculous some things about this show were.

I didn't hate it, but it wasn't anything I'd seek out and watch. It would probably be on my "if I have nothing else on my TiVo to watch, I wouldn't say no to this" list.

That is good. The LW franchise was really good. I own them all on Vudu but can't stomach them because of Mel's shenanigans but I that doesn't change my view of the movies.

I'll give it at least one more episode.

After reading the start of this thread I expected to dislike the show - but not the case. Not great, but watchable. Interested to see where it goes.

I thought is was... ok. Not as bad as I'd feared. I will keep watching a bit more. I'm afraid my wife might be out though. We'll see.

Two annoying things: first, I get that the show aired earlier in prime time than usual but so tired of the "once a year (or 10 years!) on your birthday" tropes about oral sex... I mean, c'mon, someone tell the writers it's 2016 not 1956. Second, getting shot in the foot like that is REALLY bad. You know how many bones and stuff are in the foot, and how long he'd be out of work for something like that (especially as a cop)? I can take a lot of crazy stuff in a show and say "it's just TV" but that just bothered me.

Yeah, I know, those are the things that bothered me in all the silly things? What can I say.

I did like how Riggs' wife's death was by a car accident and not related to his work or a criminal out for revenge or whatever. Although if the show goes on long enough I fully expect them to twist that and have a plot arc where he discovers she was really targeted and it wasn't an accident.

I agree with the OP, and if we weren't already watching Hawaii 5-0 we'd probably give it a go. But one show with far fetched police antics and a dysfunctional cop partners is enough for us.

The difference being, the shot foot was one moment in Lethal Weapon. In Scorpion, EVERY moment is like that. :D

(Which, in a way, makes it worse...)

I enjoyed it... It's not Mel and Danny... But I'd rather have them give this franchise a try than not...

    I'll definitely be watching!
