I'm shocked more people aren't talking about this show. We're now four episodes in, and I'm utterly captivated by the characters and the story. The show is definitely unlike anything we've seen in the Marvel universe, and I think that's a good thing. I'm still not sure where they are headed with the plot, but I can't wait to find out.

Warning: Don't read on if you haven't seen "Chapter 4" yet.

What's the deal with the dude's body being stored in a diver suit in the ice room? That was so bizarre. I'm assuming when he got stuck in the astral plane, they put him on ice to preserve him until he could return one day. I think it's so funny that they cast Jemaine Clement in that role. :)

I also found it fascinating that David somehow knew that Syd was in trouble? Apparently, his telepathy is so advanced that he could see what was going on miles away, even when stuck in the astral plane. On top of that, he then transported himself to where she was. They are clearly setting David up to be one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men canon. I don't read the comics, so I know nothing about his character other than what has been seen on the show so far.

That was super cool when Syd changed places with the curly haired bad guy. He definitely wasn't expecting that. :)

So I guess if that girl who lives in the guy gets injured, then he gets injured as well?

I was enjoying the show after episode 3 but last night's episode 4 I was like WTF? I have no idea what is going on.

I thought the first half of this episode moved pretty slowly, but then it got good at the end. Every week I'm amazed that this guy is Mathew Crowley. It's like he was a foot taller, 50 pounds heavier, and 10 years older on Abby. ;)

It's like every week I have no idea what to expect. But it's a pretty cool ride!

Is that dead/astral plane guy the head lady's dead husband?

What is the deal with Syd's power? Do they swap consciousness with bodies staying in the same location, or do they teleport bodies with consciousness staying in the same location? It seemed like the former when she first swapped with "The Eye" and then the latter when she swapped back. Unless David's power somehow interfered with normal operation (which I thought was only consciousness jumping around, no teleporting bodies).

I wonder what happens if Syd's body touches someone else while her consciousness is in someone else. I need to go back and see if that happened -- but I don't think we saw anyone touching her body's skin while she was swapped. I think the power stays with the body, not with the consciousness, since when Syd swapped with David, she had his powers, so presumably he had hers as well.

David must have touched the Eye's skin when Syd's consciousness was inside him and he tackled and wrestled with the Eye's body, but David did not seem to switch places, so that supports the idea of the swapping power staying with Syd's body. Could the Eye have quickly touched his body with Syd's body and swapped back?

Syd really needs to develop some code words and share them with David and anyone else going on a mission with her.

Why were they so confused about which was real, Lenny or Benny? Did not Syd and a number of other people see Lenny at the mental hospital?

That trap was highly contrived -- bad writing. How convenient that Syd suddenly says "we're not spies" and tells the mind reader not to read the doctor.

I think that is how we're supposed to feel because I'm not so sure any of the characters have a firm grasp on what is going on yet. Some of them are figuring things out & hopefully if they transition this properly (meaning somewhat quickly) it will continue to be an amazing show.

This show is weird. The way it's being told is just bizarre and sometimes hard to follow. Luckily the mellowed out a little from the first episode, that one was hard to even get through.

Yep. This seems like something that would be a rather obvious safeguard given her power.

I'm completely confused by this as well. Is Lenny/Benny real or just in David's mind? I thought Syd mentioned that she saw Lenny at the hospital. She even seemed to recall melting her into the wall, so that makes it even more confusing.

Without spoiling anything, can someone tell me if any of these characters are in the comics, or were they all created just for this show?

I'm pretty sure everybody but David is original to the show...

I think they're both real, but replacing Benny with Lenny is one of the ways he's hiding things in his memories.

But why would David's druggie friend be locked up in the same nuthouse as him? It doesn't make any sense?

He wasn't. David replaced him in his memory with Lenny (his new friend from the asylum), for reasons we don't know yet.

Ah. That makes sense. So Lenny was actually in the loony bin with him, and the other memories we see of him with her on the outside are false memories.

That is how it seems to me at this point.

There will, of course, be other points in the future. ;)

(I'm not entirely convinced Lenny was there in the loony bin either, although the fact that Syd saw her as well suggests she probably really was...)

I agree - It's growing on me, but I really hate this Jacob's Ladder technique of story telling.
If Jean Smart weren't in it, I probably would have given up on it.
I think I might record the rest of the season and then binge watch so I can fast forward all the nonsense.

For me, episode 4 jumped the shark. The story telling is too scattered. I can't tell anything that is going on. Deleting one pass. When I go on a drug binge, I may watch again.

Still love it! Hope they don't make it too normal in the future. There are enough shows like that already; I prefer something different.

Exactly. It's a nice change of pace, especially compared to all the other comic based shows.
