Yeah...the quest for the swords interests me, but that's only a few minutes in each episode.

(It's almost comical how unathletic Nicki looks when they have to actually use her instead of her stunt double in the fight scenes.)

    With one drop of dressing.

Pera pretty much has it right.

While I don't remember Caine running away (except for trying to keep ahead from the bounty hunters) per se, there was that one episode where he encounters a group of bullied Quakers led by Howard DaSilva and the great Anthony Zerbe.

DaSilva is talking about their philosophy of non-violence and says something like, "If a man beats me with a stick, I can fight back and possibly kill him, I can stand there and let him beat and possibly kill me, or I can run away. Running away avoids violence and preserves life."

Caine: "Or you can take the stick."

Nicky remembering her teacher telling her how to punch through things doesn't really measure up.

Like I said, they could have called this show "Chinatown" and it would have required no changes in the scripts.

I want to support shows like this but if they hadn't tried to claim that it was a reboot of the old series I'd feel better about it.

Yeeeaaaahhhhh, I noticed that too and spotted a couple of awkward moves.

I'm out. As my son would say, have fun rotting your brains! :p

He was shocked any show would be bad enough that I would not watch it. :D

Yeah, this show is bad even for a CW show and I've watched and liked a lot of CW shows. It's a shame they sullied the memory of the original Kung Fu with this teen oriented drama.

I sort of like this show. I've never seen the original. I just 1P'd cause I like the crap CW spawns.

This version seems to be more like a ripoff of Iron Fist than following in the footsteps of the original Kung Fu. I think part of the charm of the original version is that it was set as a period piece in the old west.

Christina Kim was previously one of the showrunners on Blindspot which I liked but didn't take seriously.

I think that Kim should take this show a little more seriously.

The one thing this has done is made me interested in watching the original again. I used to like it when I was a kid but barely remember much about it. I KNOW it was better than this, but I do expect it to be 1970s cheesy, but much more interesting.

The latest episode was my last one. Deleted the OnePass after watching it and fast forwarding through about half of it. Their fight scenes suck and she keeps committing crimes in every episode. This show is for a demographic much younger than me. It's a shame they soiled the good name of the original series.

I'm an episode behind. Couldn't watch two in a row. But apparently this thing has fans:

Does the CW actually cancel shows? I think they have their core audience and have little interest in moving beyond that. This show, I guess, plays into that core. My son watched a lot of CW and actually likes this. It falls into the CW take on superheroes. The main character here is more of a superhero type than what the original show was.

I watched the first episode and gave up.

They do actually cancel a few, lol: The CW Cancel/Renewal Scorecard 2020-21 - TV Scorecards

My kids are on the young end of that demo, and don't watch much TV at all. They stream stuff, and not CW stuff which I don't think they are interested in having access to, but I can see how the CW is trying to target them.

I gave up on Batwoman long before Ruby Rose did. And when I tried to watch a bunch of crossover episodes to see more of the "Arrowverse", I couldn't stand them. And not just because I've always been more of a Marvel fan, hah.

I thought the first season of In The Dark — about a self-destructive young blind woman in Chicago who literally stumbles onto the murder of a friend — was great, but then they kept coming up with repeated contrived situations to keep it going and I dropped it a few episodes into the second season. And wow, it's been renewed for a 4th season. So somebody's watching.

I don't think I've watched a CW show since "Beauty and the Geek" 15 years or so ago. They just don't appeal to me. And it doesn't help that I'm not a comic book fan really. I did watch a little bit of Supergirl when it was on CBS, but eventually grew bored of it once it became more about her romance with whoever than her super powers.

This is the Iron Fist of CW superhero shows and not because of the martial arts.

Seems like folks in this thread would much prefer this forthcoming indie flick. Much better fight choreography, and comedy. It's about three out-of-shape middle-aged Seattle guys who used to be hotshot kung-fu fighters.*

The last two episodes weren’t horrible. Looks like the baddie might not be so bad. It might be complicated.

I watched the pilot and thought it was so bad I didn't get back to it. I tried to watch episode 2 and lasted less than five minute.

My gosh the acting is terrible!

Deleted - and I will NOT try again!

I still think the show is adequate*.
Okay to put on in the background, like most of the rest of the Arrowverse shows.
I'm still watching it sorta, but wouldn't be heartbroken if it gets canceled.
Don't know if I'd stick around for a season 2 if it gets one.

    * Many years ago in Tivo Happy Hour(I think), someone told a story about his boss telling his group "Adequate is not good enough!" and he responded, "Actually, by definition, it is." I don't remember who that was, but since then, I often rate things as "adequate," as I think it perfectly captures the tone and rating.
