    Da boogie...
Since this is only 8 episodes, let's discuss in one thread.

The pilot is available on the BBCA site. And it was a great pilot. I'm not too familiar with Sandra Oh. Never watched Grey's Anatomy. But she is terrific here. Oh plays Eve. She's an MI5 agent on the hunt for an assassin. Eve discovers early on that the assassin is a woman. And that woman is a ruthless killer who seems to take joy in her assignments. The actress who plays the assassin looks so familiar. Turns out she played Princess Elizabeth in Starz's The White Princess.

Looking forward to where this goes. Looks very, very promising...

Thanks for starting the thread. I loved it. I dunno why Sandra Oh hasn't done much since Grey's Anatomy (or if she has, I haven't noticed) - but she is great in this as is the woman playing the assassin. She looked familiar to me too - I never saw The White Princess, so it must be something else.

I was unclear what Eve's job actually is...

    She's an analyst.

I agree, both women are sensational. I can't believe Jodie Comer can make such a thoroughly reprehensible character so...well, I don't know if appealing is the right word. But when she was cheering the little old lady on, I was laughing instead of just wanting to punch her in the face. I saw her in White Princess, but I really remember her from Thirteen, where she was also sensational.

I liked the first episode quite a bit. Wanted to watch the rest of the episodes immediately but remembered this wasn't a Netflix series. :(

Saw the headlines that season 2 has already been greenlighted. So does mean a cliffhanger for end of season 1 or a new villain for season 2? (I never read the books so I have no idea how many characters are available.)

Thanks for starting the thread! Fantastic first episode. The relationship between Eve and her husband is a joy. The scene where she shares all the minute details she's worked out of how she would kill him .... cracked me up and took me to a dark place at the same time. Seems as though this may be the series hallmark as it was in several scenes - the killer and the grumpy old lady, the killer and the Italian grandchild, etc. Waiting very impatiently for the next episode.

That was an absolutely brilliant scene, although it was hard to fully appreciate until I thought about it later. She tries to get the little girl to smile at her, and fails. The counter boy succeeds. Jealous, she tries harder, and finally succeeds. But it's too little too late, so she dumps the ice cream in the little girl's lap on her way out the door.

A lesser show would have pounded the point home by having her kill the counter boy. It's impressive that a show as given to comedy as this one is willing to go subtle. The character work on both female leads is amazing. And it's nice that there really are no male leads, just supporting characters; the show belongs entirely to Oh and Comer.

We just got through binging Doctor Foster on Netflix where the killer lady plays the ex husbands new wife. A bit jarring to see her in such a different role.

Oh? I didn't realize that it was only a single book. I just read that it was adapted so I figured that it was a series. The same article also mentioned that they up-aged Eve from the book, which is also unusual (but welcomed).

I had to pause it and think for a minute who the secret agent woman is and then I realized it was Aunt Petunia from Harry Potter!

Yep. She’s also in the third season of Broadchurch and in the first season of Channel Zero.

And even here, she is playing a role that was originally written as a young woman...

Not to mention that she's Asian. Even Oh was surprised that she was offered the part.

Fantastic pilot, one of the better ones I've seen in awhile. Did they mention how Eve came to MI5, being an American? (I suppose she could be Canadian). That's the only part that I wish they would have mentioned. The villain was just so much fun. I could watch her the whole time. I originally planned to record all the episodes and binge it during the summer (which is something I don't normally do, but I had so much else to watch), but found myself essentially caught up over the weekend so decided to watch. I haven't seen E2 yet which I will probably watch tonight. Can't wait to see how this plays out. Oh, and I hope she gets her 20 quid back :)

    She's not MI-5, she's CIA.

[edit] Oops, this seems to be incorrect...see below.

I missed that. Thanks! I thought she worked for the other guy she bet 20 quid with. He's CIA too?
