I hear you but one thing you may not have noticed: the Marshalls had the guy's entire house bugged. That's why they kept nixing every place "more private" that he wanted to talk until finally they went outside, then moved far enough away from the house so they could threaten him without being recorded.

It's a bit cheesy how fast the guy got there, yes; he must have either already been there or almost there for some reason. But it wasn't surprising that he knew Raylan was there or what was going on.

Well he said Raylan's current boss gave a head's up that Raylan was likely on the way. At that point the Miami Marshall probably went out to the survalance post that was monitoring the guy's house. They'd know the minute Raylan came in and he could head in immediatly behind him.

The episode ran seven minutes long...I wonder if there were scenes cut to get it down to even that length? A travel scene would probably be an easy one to cut...

Didn't run that long for me. My recording was 67 minutes, but it ended before the recording ended...by at least a few minutes....

I think the 7 "extra" minutes were for the extended recap of the end of last season. They pretty much ran the exact same last 2 minutes of the end of Season 1 at the beginning of this show.

I'm guessing when it goes to repeats there will be a lot less of that at the beginning of this episode.

But it always ends a full commercial break + upcoming scenes short of the recording's end. There was definitely extra material....probably not the full seven minutes, but at least a few.

Oh yeah, there was extra for sure. And I concur with another poster who said the beginning of this ep did a great job of jogging our memories about the end of last season. I always pad this show by a few minutes since it's low on my SP list and usually recording a rerun which might not start/end exactly on time...

I wonder if shows like Lights Out, Justified, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men are shopped to the major networks. I can't believe how much cable has gotten such good drama over the last 5 years.

The only two of those I've seen (Justified and Breaking Bad) could never be shown on network television without gutting them. If they were shopped to the networks, the producers must thank their lucky stars every night, morning, and afternoon that the networks didn't bite.

Have to make mention that what they were drinking, if it's the same, is called "Hot Apple Pie" around here and it's GOOD stuff. It's got moonshine in it. I have a recipe for it and now I'm considering making some!!!

One thing is that Cable (as opposed to Network) shows have lower "scales" for Talent (writers, actors, producers etc), so they don't need as big viewer (and by extension advertising revenue) numbers to be a financial success

OK odd question but did anyone watch The Mentalist last night? Was that the same girl on that episode that played Loretta on Justified?

Yeah she was little more "fancy" on the Mentalist.

I just love the dialog on this show, I read a lot of Elmore Leonard and love that he writes for the show and the writers they hire get his "tone".

What I love is that they actually get southern accents right. I haven't been to Kentucky, but I'm guessing that's pretty much how they sound.

Oh and I have to say......

My two favorite Raylan quotes from this episode are:

"Okay, I'm just gonna ask you one question. Do you know how a firearm works?"
"Come on, now Can't we do this without you turning yourself into the Human Torch?"

Also Boyde and his [what seemed like] legitimate job still getting to say "Fire in the hole" was awesome!

Having worked for a company that was located as they put in "kentuckyana" (Evansville, IN) and had several offices in Kentucky, I can say yes, They get the accents right.
