    Works for me.

One thing about cable shows, they don't keep you in suspense wondering if it's going to be renewed.

Really? Californication didn't get renewed for its fifth season until mid-January, after they'd already shot the finale of the fourth (and did so thinking it might be the series finale, leaving no serious loose ends).

But it was long before the season ended...in fact, it was right around the time it started.

What you're referring to is exactly why cable shows are renewed (or not) so much earlier than network shows...it's because they work so far in advance. A typical network show's contracts don't end until weeks or months after the season finalé airs. Most cable shows wrap long before the season finalé airs, shorter ones (like Californication) often before the premiere airs...and their contracts thus expire much earlier in the broadcast cycle. So they have to make a decision earlier, or they risk losing their cast and crew to other projects.

I wonder what backwoods family they will deal with in season 3. Probably will deal with the "Dixieland Mafia" primarily if they don't invent a new group. They have some good supporting guys there who have a history and it wouldn't have to stretch so much to keep Raylan around Harland County.

They just have to figure out how to get Boyd out to Lexington. Maybe Raylan will make him a CI once his mining gig is up. That would be fun to watch.
