I have not had any issues, so put me on the balancing side. Do I wish things were a little faster and the screens were all HD, sure. but I don't have the problems others seem to be having.

I find this post interesting, as it posts a solution, though the true root cause is murky. The only other solutions I have seen to anyone's problems were to 1) go to a wired connection as opposed to wireless or 2) complain if #1 did not work (not truly a solution, but a valid response to an extent). Personally, #1 that helped my THD with netflix years ago, but I am wireless on my P since the day I got it with no problems whatsoever.

Perhaps my lack of issues is the new cable that was installed years ago when my local prepared for all digital.

So, has anyone else pulled new cable and found salvation?

A speed improvement would be welcome on every device I use, even the Premiere. But I've also not run into these spinning circle issues people report about where it sits there for many seconds or minutes. I have no idea why my five Premieres all work very well while other people have had issues. All my Premieres were made within two weeks of each other, they are all on FiOS, all have a cable card and all have an OTA feed. All use HDMI etc.
I am certainly glad i have not had issues like some people. Overall I have been pleased with my Premieres.

Of course the one thing i am not pleased about is the SDUI. I hate the SDUI so I will certainly be doing cartwheels if they ever fully implement an HDUI since I cannot stand seeing the SDUI on some screens when all my boxes are using the HDUI.

I even hate using my girlfriends S3 boxes. I always bring a Premiere to her place when I visit, the less I have to use the S3 boxes and the full SDUI the better.

I am also another person who is very happy with my Premiere. I upgraded the Internal drive to a 2TB one and restart it maybe once every 2 weeks just for good measure and basically never have any of the issues people complain about.

My Premiere is used for OTA only and downloading a dozen or so pod casts per week. I also use Pandora regularly and think it works great and on rare occasions will rent something from Amazon, but don't use Netflix and likely will not use Hulu + for more than the free month.

Unlike aaronwt I find very little use for the so called HDUI and prefer the so called SDUI. Where I do agree with aaronwt is that using only 1 UI is the best way to go. I have old HD TiVos that only have the SDUI so between that and that I did find the HDUI slower and too dependent on a good High speed Internet connection, the SDUI is my choice.

Another place where I differ from some people is I would not replace a functioning Series 3 HD or Tivo HD with a Premiere. While the Premiere is nicer than the other units it is not enough nicer to warrant the expense in my mind.

Because of cable cards I will not recommend a TiVo (or any cable card device) to anyone using cable. There are just too many cases where people have issues for me to feel comfortable doing so. If they are OTA only I will recommend TiVo.

Regarding the price, I dislike monthly payments (yes one of my TiVos is monthly at $6.95 - I should have purchased lifetime). So I don't think much of the $99 + $14.99/mo offer. However I think at $500 with lifetime the Premiere is fairly priced.

    Thanks,
