This might be interesting. I haven't watch SNL in a very long time. I'll probably record this episode.

The last time he was on SNL was in 1996.

One of my all time favorite SNL sketches is when Carrey played a lifeguard overseeing a jacuzzi. It was probably that '96 show.

I wonder Keenan Ivory Wayans (or whoever) will let SNL do a Fire Marshall Bill sketch.

I've always found it funny that the biggest name to come out of the show was the "token white guy".

There might be a bigger name than him out of that show. She was one of the Fly Girls. :)

They should go all out with the "In Living Color" reunion concept for this episode and bring back Damon Wayans, David Allen Grier, etc.

Jennifer Lopez was a dancer on 'In Living Color'. They called the girl dancers "Fly Girls".

And they did "Men on Film", too (not sure if it was when Wayans or Grier hosted).

I'm sure it depends on who wrote the sketch and who owns the rights to the characters. IIRC, Damon Wayans was a producer on In Living Color and probably one of the main writers, so he probably wrote that character and owned the licensing rights to it, which allowed him to do the character elsewhere. On the other hand, I don't think Jim Carrey had much creative control on In Living Color, and therefore probably doesn't have the rights to perform Fire Marshall Bill or any of his other characters.

On the other hand, sometimes these sketch comedians bring characters with them to TV shows from whatever theater company (or whatever) they were performing with beforehand.

The 1996 episode was one of the best ever, but that was back when Jim Carrey was funny. I'll be watching on Jan 8, though.

    According to wikipedia:

"Carrey hosted the season finale of SNL's 21st season in 1996, where he impersonated Fire Marshal Bill during the monologue."

As was Carrie Ann Inaba... she's now a judge on Dancing w/the Stars.

That Jim Carrey episode was mine and my sister's favorite episode of SNL ever. One of the sketches I remember vividly was Jim Carrey doing an impersonation of James Stewart doing an impersonation of Jim Carrey. Just really talented.
