Just picked one up with lifetime and want to upgrade. What is the largest off the shelf drop-in hard drive capacity I can put in without fussing with he drive using external hardware. If going to 6Tb or 8 Tb, is it that much work or hassle. I'm mostly a mac user now. Thanks.

3TB, more and you would need MSFR to expand and its a Windows program.

    Recommends WD Red Drives,

Regarding 6TB or 8TB, you just need access to windows laptop for around 10 minutes. More if you include time to connect and get your bearings. Use one of those USB adapters that advertise working with 3TB (or 6TB or 8TB). Will cost around $10-$20 extra for the adapter. Use a more recent windows like win7 or win10. WinXP can have issues depending on how old and which hardware.
