Have been looking closely since Oct.. really don't see any kind of deal aside from a mini here and there. Their winter sale wasn't even close to deals last year (or the year before).. or am I just too greedy. Hmm.

It's not that there is anything really new coming in the pipeline to force deals on existing things. Especially with Amazon around you can find good deals on assorted Tivo equipment year round if you keep an eye out and act fast. This year any tech push is coming from smart assistants and phones. 4K is a commodity (really good year to buy a TV). If anything deals should emerge after Christmas.
Greed is not a word we recognize..:D

I didn't look at them, but I got several emails from TiVo in the last few weeks touting deals. I'm not in the market for a new TiVo so I didn't even look at them, but there was something

Deals this year were not nearly as good as last year.

I bought a new Bolt with $0 down and $20 a month for two years. Not sure what happens in two years... Several $9.99/month service offers with various TiVos -- Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the only time periods I've see that.

I too thought that the holiday sales this year were pretty bad. I thought about upgrading my Roamio OTA but nothing even came close to enticing me.

I think the rate stays the same after two years, but you can cancel anytime.

I just got an email today from TiVo offering discounts on a number of devices and the service plans, so it's likely that others will be getting the same shortly.

I got an email today, also, but just deleted it w/o reading it. When I saw mention of deals on 'plans' I had to go back in and look but it is just plans on new purchases. I'm happy with my two Bolts, but am always shopping for a deal on plans. Just can't seem to get myself to pony up $550 each for Lifetime. :(

At least I got one on $9.99 a month but the other one is still on the $150 a year plan.

Of course, every time they have a promo on a unit with Lifetim it's right after I've already purchased. Oh well.

Ahh I see the email, that's what I'm talking about 349 for lifetime is getting closer to what I remember.

It's a big bite to chew that these things only come with 90 day warranty's when buying a lifetime subscription.

If I get the lifetime and a renewed bolt, can I buy another bolt off ebay and transfer my lifetime sub to it?

Nope. For whatever it's worth, I purchased a refurb. Roamio OTA from TiVo 2 years ago and it seemed new out-of-the-box; and no issues whatsoever.

A Bolt OTA 1TB with Lifetime at $400--that was the list price of the Roamio OTA 500GB at Amazon.com.

Yeah I have the Roamio right now... and have had to replace the fan twice and it seems okay. I see lots of horror stories about the bolt though. Might go for the 3 year warranty because this one is for a client and I don't want to hear about him getting screwed with the 90 day warranty.

So, I have a Roamio TIVO that I purchased off Amazon in May. Would the Bolt OTA be much of an upgrade and I can just sell my Roamio on ebay? Thanks!

Easier to take "risks" for oneself. Or to have the client choose which way to go.

A Roamio Basic or an OTA or other? And what kind of subscription?

The Roamio OTA is a pretty good deal - thankfully I'll get the price match from my purchase a couple of weeks ago.

I also see you can get the service deal on the refurb Roamio Pro. If hadn't just bought the Roamio OTA, I'd be tempted.

But, I find myself recording less and less, and streaming more, so 1TB drive is enough for me. Getting 3TBs would just result in 2TBs of things I would never get around to watching.

Yes.. I've sent the client a "what would you like to do" email.. will see what he says. He insists on the lifetime, so I'm saving him 200 bucks by giving up my coupon code... seems fair :)
