I'll be pleasantly and exceedingly surprised if they ever do.
TiVo has talked big about personalization, but they've managed to create more confusion in the process. They have a lot of work to do to truly personalize the experience.
It's just mind boggling to expect customers to deal with hundreds of recordings on a 3T drive with no way to organize them. Ugh
Yeah, they really need to work on that, especially given that (seemingly) every time someone sneezes at Netflix, my Netflix-only OnePasses jump to the top of the My Shows list :-D
But seriously, while I would love profiles, they also need something that allows you to view most-recently watched folders at the top of the list (obviously the show that you actually watched would probably have been deleted, but TiVo should be able to still flag the last time an entry is a folder was played).
Do their boxes have enough power to do this?
Tivo is already pretty sluggish.
My guess is that profiles, no matter how they were done, would cause enough problems for TiVos tech support that it would finically bad for TiVo, what % of current TiVo owners would use them, and a new TiVo buyer would most likely not even know about profiles to make a decision about TiVo vs a MSO DVR.
Can't imagine that anyone buying a 3T (or even 1T) drive would have no interest in organizing it, assuming they were presented with relatively simple options to do so.
