I am new to tivo. I got the refurb woot TivoHD. Love it so far. I noticed Yahoo had online scheduling with a Series 2. And tivo.com has online scheduling. But is there anything I can use if I forget to schedule a show while I'm on the road?

More specifically, is there a way to schedule from my cell phone? btw I have Sprint service with a Windows Mobile 6.0 on it.

    Thanks in advance

They were offering something like this a while back -- I haven't heard about it recently, so I don't know if it's still going -- but it was specific to Verizon.

Windows Mobile should let you connect to normal web sites. (No?) In addition to the ones you mentioned, ISTR that you can schedule from zap2it.com.

If you link your Tivo to a Yahoo account, I think you can do it that way.

What works best for me is a Slingbox that allows me to connect directly to my Tivo to schedule recordings through the menus, as if I were there. The Slingbox was a Woot special, btw-- around $80 or $90.

If you had a Verizon wireless cell phone, you could get the TiVo app from Verizon's "Get It Now" store.

    ttp://www.tivo.com/abouttivo/pressroom/pressreleases/2007/pr2007-03-14.html

But since you have windows mobile 6.0, you might be able to do it by linking your TiVo to tvguide.com and then log onto TVguide.com through your phone's browser. TVguide.com might require flash though...I'm not sure. If windows mobile 6 supports flash, you should be ok.

    k, I tried zap2it, doesn't load well on my phone. I think bc it's web 2.0?
I have a slingbox but just a tuner, don't want to spend $100 since I only need it occasionally.

and it's just wife and I at home so if we are out and forget to record, it'd be nice to have that option. Again, I have Sprint and NOT Verizon, so that's Verizon option is not an option.

I'll try tvguide and see how it loads.

    Anyone else use anything?

oh yeah, yahoo won't let me link bc it says it requires a Tivo 2 Series. weird.

Even better, get a SlingBox. Not only schedule a recording, watch it when you want..

You can easily do this with an iPhone. I've done it myself.

How did you do it on an iphone?

and I have a slingbox tuner so that's useless for me. I'm trying to avoid paying another $150 for a slingbox.

The iPhone has a pretty-much full-powered version of the Safari web browser, as I understand it.

I know about the iphone's web capabilities, but how did he go about it? go on safari, go to tvguide or zap2it? or another program? or slingbox?

I guess this is something not too many people do? I thought more people would be like me. :)

If you already have a slingbox why are you asking for another solution?

my slingbox is the slingbox tuner. All it does is allow me to watch tv anywhere else, I can't control the tivo.

Exactly. With the iphone I can do virtually anything on the Internet that I can do with my Laptop. Well, except for flash unfortunately.

As a previous poster said, I just log onto Tivo.com with my iPhone and I can schedule remotely from there.
