I have owned this TIVO for almost 3 years (or probably more than 3 years). There was a service update done on the TIVO last night. While I tried to turn on my TIVO just now, it just won't turn on even though I could hear the machine was still running. I tried to reboot and the screen says "Powering up"...then "You are almost there..." After that, the screen went blank. I tried to press "Live TV" on my remote and nothing came up...Later, the machine shut it down by itself (The green light was no longer there.) And I can't use my remote to turn it on. What is wrong with my TIVO?

    Mill Creek,...
Sounds like your Tivo is already dead .... :(

Most likely your hard drive died. This sometimes happens after software updates if a hard drive partition is damaged. Check out the resources in the Tivo Upgrade Center Forum here, including ....

    Hi worried,

Ours is doing something very similar...we have a TiVo 140hr that is less than a year old. There was a software update on ours last Tuesday or Wednesday. I came into the livingroom to "fire up" the TV for my daughter to watch Sesame Street and there was a solid white screen. I did get it to reboot by turning off/on our UPS device, but now am having stuttering and pixelation on some recordings. Based on my PC knowledge my initial thought was software issue. The addition of the games, Live365, etc. to TiVo central seemed to spark the issues with our livingroom unit. I also know enough to know that I actually know very little about the inner workings of a TiVo...we too (my spouse and I) are seeking a solution. TiVo customer support is willing to replace ours, but with a refurb model as they do not produce the 140 hr TiVo box unit anymore. We really do not want a refurbished one.

Just another point of reference, I had the same type of freeze/blank screen. I started guided setup from the beginning and added a UPS and with the updated 7.2.2 software, everything works well now.
