I have a Phillips series one Tivo and a Sony series one Tivo and would like to replace the remote on the sony as it is getting worn out. I understand that the only difference between the Phillips and Sony ver 1.3 software are the remote codes.

Does anyone know if this is a file that can be copied from the Phillips unit and be used to replace the one on the Sony? It is easy apparently to get Phillips remotes but Sony remotes are getting as scarce as Hens Teeth and seem to cost about their weight in gold!!

Just get yourself a backup image of a Philips S1 Tivo and install it on the Sony drive. Any non-Sony Tivo remote should work fine with it after that.

    Ontario Canada.
AFAIK, at least it is an entry in rc.sysinit, and at most an MFS entry.
