So, I've purchased a universal remote for my entertainment setup. The remote is IR. I know Roamio OTAs can receive IR signals, but my box sits behind my TV. Need to know what kind of IR extender I need to buy. I think the one I just purchased comes with a headphone-like jack to plug in behind the box, but I'm not sure that port exists. Do I need a "USB IR extender?" Help needed. Thanks.

I have good luck with these. I've installed many of them.

Roamio also use RF remote so an extender may not be needed.

IR extender is needed owing to the OP looking to use a universal IR remote with their hidden Roamio, rather than the Roamio's remote:
p.s. Though I think I may get your point, belatedly. Probably good to make sure the OP knows of the RF remote capability, and not just assume the need for a universal remote is the driver.
