I’m about half scared to update, but will experiment with the iPad.
iOS "Cellular Streaming" appears to be the headline, rather than downloading?
I note that 4.4.1 fills the screen of the iPad Pro 11”. The previous version had black bars left and right - not filling the horizontal screen. Much relieved, feeling shorted since getting the iPad Pro.
That means they must have improved the adaptive bitrate stuff while streaming. The whole reason they haven’t offered cellular streaming because their adaptive streaming implementation wasn’t up to Apple specs. So they must have improved it. (or Apple changed the rules)
I hope they fixed the need to login every few days or week requirement.
That's not technically a bug, but a security feature. The OAuth token that they use has a short expiration period hence the need to log in again periodically. Granted they could cache the password in the app or keychain so that the token could be automatically refreshed, but it's not that hard to login again if you save your password in either the iOS keychain or a third party password manager app.
I use lots of media apps that don't require me to re-login that often or at all.
Yes, I suppose if the Tivo app was something like my bank app then I could see the necessity.
I’m right there with you. I NEVER thought TiVo would ever add support for the iPad Pro 11”. So much better experience now...
They should do like most other apps do today... institute Face ID or fingerprint unlock.

I haven't been this excited about an upgrade in a long time. I've been wanting streaming over cellular data for...well...since I bought into TiVo.
I was able to stream reasonably well even when in a weak cell signal area. I'm really happy they added this.
Well, it's nice to see them finally supporting the 11" pro without the black bars. Now, if we could only get Face ID...
They have not fixed the subnet mask problem as yet.
I downloaded the new ios software and the new Tivo app and I still can't connect over wifi
What is the subnet mask problem?
If you have a different subnet mask than 255.255.255 you won't be able to connect to your TiVo DVRs from ios apps newer than V3.7x
Looks like they also fixed the bug where if you schedule a recording away from home (iOS device not on same network as TiVo) the recording will take place on an SD mirror channel rather than the HD channel you scheduled even if you do not have the SD channel in your channel list. Just tested it this morning and it recorded the correct HD channel.
love the download feature, so overdue
Hmm. I could always download over cellular. That was my workaround to no cellular streaming. I'd start a download and then play back the d/l in progress.
No need now. Cellular streaming works really well, so far!
can I assume downloaded shows to the tivo ipad app will work on a plane without wifi?
