After 2 short years, it's time to say goodbye to D*. I got into HD and D*'s poor excuse for an HD DVR was nothing but garbage.

Got my E* VIP622 today (working HD-DVR) and so far, so good. Nice... Can even record my OTA HD!

Will miss TIVO, but all I care about it recording TV. Don't need the "fluff."

When I called to cancel my account, D* tried to offer me a first hit at getting their new HD-DVR (said it was coming out in June) and some free programming. I told the CR that if they could not get the old one to work properly, why would I want a new one? And as usual... the comment from the CR was "what problems?" I REST MY CASE!

    Later.........

Keep these URLs handy - you might need them:

    http://www.satelliteguys.us
    http://www.dbsforums.com
    http://www.dbstalk.com

Us DTivo (SD & HD) users will just have to endure, I guess.

Suggestion: Go sell your current auto and go get a Yugo or John Deere tractor since you don't need "fluff" - create accounts on automobile forums and encourage others to do likewise.

Sorry, I don't get it. I record lots of OTA HD on my HR10-250 HD DirecTV Tivo. And it plays back just fine, so why exactly doesn't this qualify as a "working DVR"?

    Please explain.

You're right! Tivo is a crap DVR. You shouldn't even have to keep it in your closet. Send it to me and and I'll see that it gets disposed of properly.

As the old saying goes, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out.

I heard a song many years ago.

"Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you".

Say hello to the rep from Dish who called me after I cancelled their service last year (they wanted $200 to add a standard receiver to my account). He kept trying to tell me how much better their DVR was than my TiVo. He also stated [at the time] that DirecTV didn't offer a TiVo with a 100-hour recording capacity (Samsung SIR-S4120R).

I was initially going to recycle the Maxtor drive I pulled out of the Dish DVR, but it quit working within a few days.
